Can't wait to hear about it...especially the two Lifan bikes. There have been a few of their 200cc dirt bikes for sale around here and I've wondered about how they hold up.

The GY200 is like $1500 new retail.... at that price holding value doesn't matter... Use it until it's burned up, put another motor in it ($300), burn it up again.... Motorcycles are entertainment. Spend and enjoy.

I think they would work well for that. The most important thing that HAS to be done is basically take the bike apart and loctite EVERYTHING. After the bike breaks in they are pretty great little bikes.

I had a Vento Zip R3i scoot...one of those chinese clones (had a good minarelli motor, though). I took it apart, tightened up stuff, locktite here and there, some minor fixes, eyeballed everything really well, and it never gave me a moment's trouble and turned out to be one hell of a commuter bike that I wish I hadn't sold. It just needed that bit of extra QC to make it good to go. I was thinking about doing one of the Lifan 200cc bikes for myself as a test mule.

Well, wait until we get through with this trip! If "LaFawnduh" (as she is affectionately called) makes the 1000 mile trip it will be the ultimate test!

Three days to go
Well, I'm convinced the Lifan/battle scooter ain't gonna break the 55mph mark. It's just too heavy with all of the additional iron work and 20mm ammo cans attached. I guess it'll be the scoot and that MZ thing setting the slow pace. Real bummer though, with all of the engine mods. New piston, cylinder, 30mm carb, polini clutch, variator, weights, etc. Just about all the goodies to make it go fast but it ain't happening. Last thing i'm trying, if I can get one over night is a limitless CDI, see if that will let the motor rev some. Joel over at MRP was good to give me the hook up on the parts. I really can't wait for the next creation where I can really use their stuff, it's all top quality from what I have seen. Stay tuned....more to come. oh, the guy with us riding the BMW.......queer.
