was it a pain to mount the ohlins w/ the res.? Quote:

the biggest problem is that they arent made anymore. take a KLR, add better suspension, brakes, frame ( =handling) , excellent part availablilty, cheap to buy...... biggest issue for me was small tank ( I'm in on the 5 gal purchase, so that solved) and a seat that could use improvement, working on that. there is some reports of a cam chain issue or something like that, I am l looking in to that.

Just wondering if anyone has added a battery to their 650R and if so where did you put it?
Thanks Pyro_ |

The lights are the Acerbis Cyclops. What i am considering doing is putting on a smaller overflow resevoir and getting a friend to weld up a stronger steele hanger where the overflow bottle is. Then put a battery there. Still trying to work things out tho cause i would like to get a full size motorcycle battery on it.

I did some cross referencing and a 2004 drz400 is about .5 inch longer than the stock shock. installed a 7kg spring and preloaded about 1.5 inches. you need to remove the crappy stock tool holder, cut the tool holder tab off the frame. You need to drill out the upper mount threads on the frame and run a slightly longer bolt the opposite direction with a nut. The lower clevis has no threads , so i ran a longer bolt with a thin locknut. the valving seems o.k. i left the stock compression setting but i increased the rebound 4 extra clicks. This took me about 1 hour to figure out and install. this bike has heaps of travel. i'm 6' tall with 34" inseam and i cant touch flat footed with both feet. cheers

KLx woes
So I just broke the stud off That hold the Exhaust manifold to the engine on my 94 KLX-650r.
Just wondering if anyone knows if it is threaded or pressed into the engine? please god let it be threaded
