i want to know more about that water heater.. that looks awesome. do you have drawings for it?
Not at the moment but I'm sure I can put one together.
I can also take detailed pictures when I get home in 10 days.
I originally used 1/2 inch stainless tubing for the coils and put 3 turns in the fire, but it was too noisy.
The water in the coils flashed into steam and then collapsed again as soon as the steam hit the water in the pot.
I switched to larger tubing and just one vertical pass through the fire for better circulation.
The water turns over so fast it never flashes off.
Now it just gurgles away once all the water is boiling, and is silent before that.

The pot and lid are made from sheetmetal, the legs from pipe, bolts and washers.
The heater coil and handles are from tubing.
You also need a few bulkhead fittings, some tube unions and nuts if you want it collapsible for transport.
All the parts are 316 stainless.
I throw all the pieces in a plastic bag to keep the inside of the pot clean.
Its too big to pack on a bike, but if you are truck camping there is no problem.

The best thing is that it doesn't dominate the firepit like a pot sitting above the fire will.
The water is still hot in the morning for washing, teeth etc.
Food wrapped in foil stays hot when placed on top of the lid.

Cheers.

if i am seeing this right. in this picture the coil is not in the fire pit. the whole pot is pulled away and turned. or is there another coil that snakes over to the fire pit?

You are seeing it correctly. I was breaking camp so it was out of the fire.
I'll take a series of pictures when I get home.
Is there a better thread to post them in ?

Cheers

First long ride and camp out with wife

Pic of bikes and tent after a long day of riding. Had a blast hanging out with the wife at our first rally together and getting in some off-road riding.

Thanks , can you give a little more info on the tent as the Target in Australia don't have camping gear only clothes.
Thanks Tezza

Looking at pictures on the internet it looks like a Coleman Hooligan 4-Person Tent.
