You don't get crocks that far south. In fact he would have to travel about 1100mi North until it was a consideration. The Australian bush isn't out to kill everyone to the contrary of what the media would tell you

Bloody great photo that second one BTW

Note to self. When fueling up at Windorah do NOT say "I'll see you later", "I had better get a hop along" or "See you around". You will just look like a prick in front of the locals and feel like a dick.

Great photo's passed through that area on my way back from Halls Gap years back. Yes no crocs there, but the snakes will do you in for sure. Like the road through Wilson's Prom miss that run.

If you're not taking a king size mattress with you on the road, you're missing out. I found this mattress in the middle of a dessert, what a comfortable night!

Last year when we were there in August for our annual "Beat the Alabama Heat" trip a mama bear and two cubs made several daily visits into our campsite. We found out Turns out the week before a family was in that site and the mother threw candy bars up into the rhododendron thickets around the site in hopes that her kids would see a bear. The ranger told us they had a full crew all day cleaning up after her. Stupid bitch!

Here's one of "Mama" nosin' around our campsite:

June would be the best month for rhododendron viewing, but August has less rain. I like the campground for the views and ease onto the BRP. The bear issue comes and goes with the folks who have little respect for them, feeding them can end up in the bear beind killed as a pest (have the person show the kids that memory). I give bears a wide margin and I have crossed paths with them many times in NC and VA. A few years back a couple of guys camping out at MT. Mitchell had been caught trying to hand feed two bears hot dogs from the tent door. Lucky for them the ranger happened along.

Enjoy the ride
