Windshield heights are dependent on your height, the helmet you wear and tilt of the screen. Everyone has a different experience with them.
I'm 6'4" and I hated the +4 on the stock fairing as it caused terrible turbulence in my helmet. The noise was a maddening, tumbling, low-pitched rumble that was totally unacceptable.

Are you a member of klr six fifty dot net? If so, do a search for "The Wheat Wacker Wedge fairing mod".
Getting the right angle is a personal choice and depends on the things I listed above in my reply to Dblarrow's question.

Right now my RAM mount is attached to my brake reservoir and has a 4" arm that "perfectly" places the unit in front of my speedo and a few of my idiot lights.

Understand all that - not asking how it would work for me.

What I am interested in would be something like - I did the 4" + and had buffeting that I could not stand, then I tried this and it was wonderful or it sucked or not much difference than the stock.

Stock?........What's stock?????

Most if not all of these mods were done on a bike with 1.5 kms on it.
I bought my ride home in a blizzard in January. The motor was dissasembled by Willys the next day and shipped off to M-Tech. I seriously never rode my bike stock. It's a long story but I wanted to like this bike a lot, and decided to make this bike into something that I would want to ride all the time, not to sell it after a summer because of the vibration, electrical problems, bits and pieces falling off, etc etc. The KLR isn't perfect and we all know that, so I fixed a few things. and that led to fixing a few more things.

Luckily I have a very forgiving wife who has difficulty with math, or I'd be ........

Kinda what I was hoping for - so when you run around with the WheatWacker you'll let us know how it compares to the other and if it accomplishes what you want?

I already have the WheatWhacker mod on my bike and don't really like it much. I've also heard from another board member who combined the WW mod with the +4 screen who said it sucked.

I'm not sure what I'm going to try now, but I'll post my results regardless.

So, how is the 705? Power? Vibs? Problems?

I am in awe of your mods.

It would seem that you set it up for long distances on the highway? If so, did you or have you considered the 17/19" wheel combo? It would seem like about the only thing you haven't done yet. If not, then what did you set it up for and how do you like the results?

I had to stop halfway through the list, go get a cup of coffee, then finish reading it. Impressive!
