This couple’s pic on the wall. Yeah, they’re still running it. A little older now.

And they have homemade peach pie!

American Barbecue, 5 Railroad Ave, Rowley, Mass. (Just off Route 1A) This place it tucked off 1A so it is easy to miss. Keep an eye out for the sign on the corner. This place offers some of the best southern style BBQ in the area. The ribs have a great smoked flavor to them. They don't fall off the bone but they are close. To me, ribs that fall off the bone are overdone and are a bit mushy, they need a little tugging to be done right. These are done right. The 2-way combo for $15 is the best deal, you get two meat choices, two sides and a big hunk of cornbread. The mac and cheese is amazing, the cornbread is wonderful. They also serve cold beer, both on tap and bottle.

They were closed on Labor Day, which is why the lot is empty. Usually there is a bit of a wait. The cool thing is that they have free popcorn and a huge barrel of peanuts to snack on when you're waiting. The inside is very rustic and cozy, booths and tables, wood walls covered in corregated steel, well done decor from southern BBQ joints, lots to look at. You order at the counter and go get your meal when they call your number. The best part is the three different types of BBQ sauce you serve yourself for dipping. Mild, spicy and this yellow stuff that is very addictive. I will be going back soon so I will post food pics here.

They are motorcycle friendly as well as you can see by the kickstand caddy.

After a days ride over Hatcher Pass, I like to stop into Hula Hands before I head home for a "nap"...

Left to right, Teriyaki Beef, two scoop rice, one scoop mac, Kalua Pig.

Ono grind.

Wash it down with Pass-O-Guava nectar in a can (not as good as Haleakala Dairy POG)
