Why was it disabled? Seems logical on a motorcycle site to have it enabled

What am I doing wrong with my searches ??
Hi all. I was hoping to do a bit of reading on anyone that has swapped their 640 Adv to a 950 Adv or vice versa and what their thoughts were. I've tried to do the right thing and search for this stuff myself, but I've searched on everything I can think of in the way of '640 vs 950', 'who has swapped their 950 for a 640', etc, etc and the results just say the words are too small or common or whatever it was. Can anyone either direct me to this info, tell me how I can search more effectively, or even tell me of their experiences of swapping one bike for the other, either way ? Thanks.

Try using Google to search the site. I have a the google tool bar attached to me browser, so I can just search the ADV website via google. I know there's a way to do it directly from google as well, but can't really show you..
Here's what I found just using your first search criteria.. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=318499 http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31411 http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160334 http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88029 http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=199615 http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37658 Here's my actual search.. http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...640%20vs%20950 You could just imitate the terms in the search bar and change the last bit to search for what ever you want on ADV

Thanks Gramps. That's a great tip and a great help. I didn't want to be one of those guys who doesn't do their searches, but I was coming up with bupkis time and again. Much appreciated.

I'm using Firefox as my browser.. Here's a screen shot of my browser, the mouse it hovering over the "search site" button(highlighted button that says "site"). It may be something you need to add to the Google Toolbar by right clicking and going to "customize". You'll get a list of buttons that you can drag and drop to the tool bar.

Fight the kludge
Hi guys,
All of the above options are way too fidgety. I would kindly request one of two modifications: 1) Turn on 3 letter search, not 2 letter search. That should pick up most of the missing biking terms. At this point it's crazy not to. With all the elastic computing/cloud/blah blah you should be able to get enough computing power for this not to affect the site. 2) If you're dead set against that, embed appropriate Google search boxes in each forum/thread so we can search without having to do any finger yoga constructing the Google queries. My KLR searches thank you. Daniel P.S. This is a killer site, search or not |

aerostich site:www.advrider.com inurl:"f=54" but the resulting links found by google are just to pages listing the thread titles, even though the text seems to be searched. Any idea how to have google return THREADS when it finds a hit??
