Traveling with the Circus (TAT Sept. 2006)

We just about have the bikes loaded. Rick and Roxanne have a beautiful place (The Dragons end) and have been very kind. They are allowing us to use their place as a a stageing area. The plan is to ride the entire Trans-American trail. We will be rolling out of here in the morning and heading north to Jellico, TN. to meet with a few others. At this point we have 6 riders (two DRZ 400, one GS 650, two KLR's and a DR 650). We will drop a few off and pick up a couple more as we go. So feel free to come back and follow along for the the show. Here's a determined Scottish fellow from the UK that purchased a DRZ sight unseen off ebay in Chicago and shuttled it to Tennessee in the back of a rented Saturn SUV. Don't let Alamo rental see this pic. Let the circus begin.

Changing tires & oil, packing, etc...it's a bit hard to understand Rod as he is a Scotsman. He'll say hand me that spanner laddie. What the hell is a spanner? :)

I'm trying to revive some of the pic's that have dropped off here over the years. I don't know why! Call me sentimental or just plain mental! :)
Some of the characters just before we left and as we were leaving Tallassee, Tn (my house)

Getting on the train at Lula, MS

Hi!

What is the latest estimate as to when you will get to Lula, MS or the Helena, AR bridge? Me and a couple of guys from Louisiana plan on joinning you there. Where is the planned camping/motel place for the night in that area?

Of course before they were ready to leave, there was the little task of getting the DRZ 400 back together.

Question Trailer in picture

Sounds like you guys are gonna have a blast

Question: Is that a toy-hauler type of camping trailer in the background of Hylandspirit's group shot? If so, what kind is it?

This ought to be a great dual sport bike comparisson too! Nice mix of bikes.

Thanks,

PW
