OCT 6,7 & 8 TN and NC Ride

We are getting geared up for a 3 day weekend ride and informal get-together on the above weekend. We will be leaving the Atlanta area on the am of 6 October with no specific plans. We will be hanging our hats at the KOA campground in Tellico Plains TN http://www.koakampgrounds.com/where/tn/42173/ on Friday the 6th and Saturday the 7th. The campground is clean, quiet and located right at the western end of the Cherohala Skyway. Good restaurants in the area. The campground has plenty of camping sites and still has 6 cabins available for 55 bucks a night. I have stayed there before and enjoyed it quite a bit. There is one cabin left on the Tellico River. I got the other! Each cabin has two beds. Restrooms and showers are the individual mens and womens community type facilities. Typical weather that time of year is ideal for riding. There are good adventure bike roads in the area and more awesome paved roads than you could ride in lifetime. We'd be glad to have anyone join us for any part of the ride.

I'll be leaving the MS coast on Wednesday the 4th if anyone is interested in riding up.

Edited to add this:

For those who can't make it on Friday, but want to meet up Saturday, we'll plan on leaving the KOA campground at 9:30 am for a group ride. If we get enough people we'll break into manageble groups sizes based on riding style and the areas you want to ride.

I'll start a list of all interested people here.

While you are in Tellico Plains, ride over and checkout Cherohala Motorcycle Resort. You will be glad you did ! Great area to ride in, be safe.

I love the Tellico Plains area. I might try to make it up there even if it's just for a day. I'll recheck my schedule mid month to see if I have anything going on.

We will probably end up with several that can't make the 3 days. I'll bet we find someone to ride up with you. It'll be nice to meet you if you can make it.

What kind of riding are you planning on doing? I'll be in Knoxville that Friday for work, I'd love to bring the bike and RIDE!

We'll probably stick to the paved roads unless we get a larger group of people that we can split into a couple groups. My riding style is conservative, so if we get a few that want to take a sportier approach, we'll make plans accordingly. Bring the bike, you'll be glad you did.

I live in Knoxville so I can probably make it down to do some riding, and maybe some guiding if your ride plans aren't set yet.

The good thing is, your damn motor can't read. If it says oil on the container, it's pretty much OK to dump in there.... ED.

Mike, it would be great to have you. Seems like I always do the same roads up there, so a little local knowledge could be a good thing.

I live in Sweetwater, and could ride. But not interested in staying on pavement. If anyone wants to take the more rugged forest roads I'll ride. I've explored the surrounding areas fairly well lately.

following pic was taken on Oswald Dome Road (in the nearby area)

Hey Paul, what type of bike are you riding up, street or D/S ?
I have the option of the RT or DR.

I'm going to be riding the V-Strom 650. Last time I was up that way I did quite a bit of gravel road exploring and enjoyed it. No serious offroading this trip unless I can figure out a way to tow the DRZ behind the Wee.
