Why going with a smaller engine? are they also discontinuating the 250 to keep one single model?

i had an xr4 and they are old school. replacing 2 bikes w/ 1 and splitting the size makes sense. i think honda should have that in the US vrs the turdy crf230L! i think it would sell well as it has done in SA. http://www.google.com/search?q=XRE30...xtMenu&ie=&oe=

Good thing is that parts will be easy to find in most countries, and the low power will help keep you out of trouble with the law.
They are decent little scoots, not exactly exciting, but your trip sounds like it's more about the journey than the riding anyway.

I'll do some off road and we'll be too up for all Patagonia, so a scoot is not an option for me!

It would definitely not be my choice for two-up riding any serious distances. Definitely check the fit before you buy.

OK, I understood.
Yes it's small, but considering prices in Chile and the fact I'll need to resell the bike fast at the end of the trip, it sounds to be the best option as it is a popular bike. For sure it will be a big change after the KTM 950 but at least it will be lighter and cheaper to fix. My girl friend does not take a lot of space and I'm not big size either, so it should be more or less ok. and at the end, it doesn't seem to be worst than a KLR for two up (that was my initial choice). |

On the gravel & such you be fine. Big high passes up North will be slow but doable.

I'm currently in the Pucón Region, still alone but with the bike very loaded (I'll have to get rid of stuff before the lady arrives).
I road a lot of back roads, dirt, rocks, with the load, the bike performs very well! |
