I was at the Phoenix Cycleworld show yesterday, going back today. I'll take my fucking camera this time.
They're purdy.I read here that it's going to be built by Aprilia? And speaking of Aprilia, the RXV was also quite sweet.

The new X-Challenge will not be much of a touring bike with only a 2.5 gallon tank and only 280 watt alternator. No heated grips on this bike unless they have a bigger alternator kit (did notice ABS was an available option - and BMW typically supplies a 170 extra watt alternator for this - like the Dakar).
With this said, this whole thread is just 205 by now..... Can't wait to see them in real life... |

I see that BMW can build a dirt bike that weights 70 lbs more than any of their competition. Good luck with that.
Oh, like I need and or want ABS on my trail bike. It’s like those anal German guys have never left the pavement. Or better still. They want each and everyone of their riders to experience the bottom of each and every woop that is on the trail. Good luck with that too.

Off road motorcycles for the ultra rich who never rode off road before that think they need abs and other gadgets to stay upright. Some of tham look good though. I like the sumo wannabe Duke II knock off aprillia clone.

It says that ABS is an option, and I would bet the average hard core trail rider would probably opt to not have it anyway. Sure 318# is a bit portly if your compairing the X challenge to a CR250, but for a dualy in that CC range it seems pretty consistent. My 640 is a pig, but I'm 6-2 and 230, so I can touch the ground and throw her around when need be. Maybe its just not a good bike for a 5' frenchmen ?

Like some one else has said, the weight is on par with the other 650 dual sport bikes. I myself like the X-Challenge. And why not ABS. For those of us who use their bikes for commuting on the interstate, I would opt for this option. I am not a hard core off roader, but I am sure this bike will take me where I want to go on the trails. Marchoni front forks can't be too bad either. Top notch suspension and brakes, with a peppy motor should make for a fun bike.

All these pics and details are killing me! I want to see one in person. That could be the ultimate Pine Barren machine
