New Vespa prices?

I am a life long motorcyclist, but I just left my local Vespa dealer and I think I have to have one. Does anybody know the "real" price for a new PX150 ? The 5 PX 150's he has on the floor are all at $4,200 & 300 frt and prep for a MSRP of $4,500. Anybody know what I should expect to pay if I get a realistically good deal on a "new" 2005 PX 150? If there is some over-riding reson I should get a model other than a PX 150 please loet me know that too---I'm not a Vespa guru so I can use other's expertise. Seems to me the CV "auto" transmissions should be more popular with the chicks than the 4 speed manual of the PX. Thanks for any help.........

The PX is real cool but its a 1960's scoot while the other Vespa's are much more modern. If you like the PX check out a Stella. Same thing....I mean same thing parts interchange and everything but cost less then $3000. Kymco and Piaggio make some cool scoots too along with many others.

Another vote on the Stella--you'll have to hunt around for one but you'll save a bundle.

The Stella is (was) built by LML which build Vespas under license for years. All the parts interchange except (IIRC) the airbox. The stella motor is a reed valve versus the vespa's rotary valve.

BTW I noticed your location of Charleston SC and Dayton. If you're ever in Raleigh on your way to SC then check out http://www.capitolbmw.com because they've got a bunch of scoots on the floor including the PX and may cut you a deal on one.

vespa $

I know, I know, I know, Stella is just as good or better for less money, but I want a Vespa. I have a call in to Capitol BMW and a guy there is to get`back to me with a price. I just figured there must be someone out there` who has gotten a Vespa at a discount who can educate me. The 4 stroke CVT Vespas are real slick looking while the PX 2stroke with the gnarly 4 speed looks very "old school"

If you're working with Capitol, try Bob or Geoff. Both are good guys.

Sherco,

I owned a limited edition 05 PX150 and sold it and went with the LX150. Though it doesn't have the vintage looks of the PX, it is much faster, much more fun to ride and easier on the gas.

Thumbs down Go Vespa

I dont understand why people are pushing stella over vespa. If you want a geared scooter then Waste some time and take a stella out for a laugh, then ride a vespa. I understand that price may be a factor so you may opt to look for a used PX. Stay away from stella they really are shite scoots.

Did you get stung by a scooter from Asia Via Ebay? Please keep up the good work. There are Newbees out there relying on you.

Jim, I asked you why, hence the little yellow guy with ears. See?--->

So, I'll ask again, please explain everything you know about why the Stella is shite, and the Vespa PX-150 is so much better.

And no, I have not bought a hack-job from Asia, but thanks for asking.

Umm, you still didn't answer why. So why is the Vespa so much better then the Stella other then it says Vespa on it?
