Those E.J. Potter pics brought back more memories of that bygone era. I remember seeing him run that bike on TV back in the day - probably back when ABC Wide World of Sports actually got out and covered drag racing pretty well.

This is me on my first vintage/classic bikei in 1996..
I think it was a 1966 (or1964) model.. The leathers are military issue from 1950, and the goggles are for tank commanders/drivers...the helmet is also military issue..as is the bike..

I rode this 173cc bike 2100 kilometers in just little more than two days (and we have a low ~60 km/h average speed here in Norway).. from high up in the north of Norway.. through rain and also snow down to the warm(er) south. This was actually my first "adventure trip"... I like more power and more comfort now, though..

For that paint scheme, maybe. The bike came out in 1969. I had one in high school.

Yeah Hooker I've seen a D and I have spent some time going over the parts books.

It was a generalization.

Kind of like "All Vincent owners are pretentious assholes" is a generalization and not completely true.

My friend Todd is quite the prolific engine builder. I hope to send him my Guzzi heads sometime soon for refurbishing.

Some of his work.

Sweet huh?

I have a spare 1938 oilpump for the '38 chief motor..
But they may have upgraded to the later pump since it pumps more. (the feed side piston is larger..)
Also I noticed the 1947 flywheel scraper modification..that works great!

Original paint

I always liked original paint bikes.I shudder to think of some of the ones I've seen screwed up over the years.Once I sold a new Matchless G-85.Later the guy said he was going to restore it to "better than new". Moma don't let your bikes grow up to be trailer queens.
My 48 HRD Rapide.

A 69 Honda KO CB750.I found it on Ebay.

Before:

After:
It is still original paint.I used up some of the last of my KO bits here.

I wish I had bought this original paint 1950 Vincent Red Rapide.

I probably would have screwed it up back then though.

Here's a Monza a friend wants to sell.
