Hey Nicky!

When it comes to my brother......,it's absolutely a competition

Seems to add general amusement to the journey?

Anyway, you've got an ancient bike already, so just come along next time!

Hey RPD1,

Nice pics! They always seem to predict doomsday weather for Oley
each year, and luckily, they're often wrong!

That nice looking 1916 Indian Powerplus with the sidecar was the only
vehicle to breakdown on Saturdays 40 mile road-run. It sure hauled ass
up until that point, however!

I've lived in the area for 10 years and this was the first that I heard of the Oley meet. I need to get out more.

You and your brother have some nice looking bikes. We planned on looking at the bikes under the pavilion on the way out but when we were leaving it was getting crowded so we moved on.

RPD1,
Thanks for the comments about our bikes! You should also check out
the AMCA meet in Jefferson,PA(close to York). It is always the last meet
of the year, and will take place on Oct. 3rd - 4th this time around. Although
much smaller than Oley, it has it's own distinct atmosphere and interesting
setting. The meet takes place at the White Rose Motorcycle Club grounds,
and spreads out at the base of a very famous hillclimbing slope! The club-
house offers food & continuous film footage of vintage races.

I would also heartily recommend the Rhinebeck,NY meet from June 13th-
15th. This one is huge, and growing constantly!

Great pictures, and so nice to see so many original, unrestored bikes too. I would sell my soul for this one
A bike is only ever original once, once you restore them it is just another bike.

Riding into History

Didn't take a lot of shots of the antiques at the Riding into History, St. Augustine Florida May 17, 2008, but this was a beauty:

Trip to Big Sandbar AMCA meet

This time around; I took my 1946 Indian Chief, my brother rode his 1946
Harley '45', and his buddy rode a 1947 Harley Knucklehead "bobber"! (with
hand-made titanium exhaust system) Yes, it sounded like both
cylinders were firing properly! Our destination: The Big Sandbar
chapter of the AMCA. Summer meet, Sunday, June 1st in Ridge, New York.
That's "longgiland"!

First step was swinging by the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where my brother and his
buddy work, and store their Harleys.

No problem maintaining that 18 mph speed-limit.
Make sure to add plenty of 60 weight oil! It is Summer afterall.

Oops! That new ammeter I wired into the Chief dashboard left me with
an evil electrical gremlin, that stalled my bike at 60mph! Luckily,
We were able to veer off to this no-man's-land....."Devil's Triangle". There
were enough car parts lying around to build a running Fiat!!

Oh well, we worked it out within 10 minutes (wire shorting), and at least
we had this nice skyline view of the Big A-hole!

No more problems on this pleasant adventure!

Yes, we arrived right on time.....10:00 A.M. We decided to pay the extra $5
to enter the show. Hey, it was a cheap way to provide safe parking.

Wish I had a better picture of those straight titanium pipes on the Knucklehead. Drats!

Well............. we did see a lot of great bikes:
