If anyone is interested in riding in the Ozarks on July 4th, I'm having a thang and you are all invited.

I put the new footpegs on the 07 XT225 that a guy over on XT225.com is making. They are super sweet- very professional looking and have a wide cleat area. Now I just have to get the pumper carb on and the transformation is complete! (well except for a tail rack and better tires!)

just thought i'd chime in on these underestimated bikes. I don't personally have one but a co worker of mine bought one about a month ago. we went through it pretty extensively this past week in preparation for a day ride that actually happened yesterday. we fixed an oil leak at the starter oring and pulled the carb apart. it's a 92 with lord knows how many miles on it. the diaphram had small holes in it. a little black tape fixed it up good enough? Saturday we headed out for the ride and i packed enough tools to do everything but put a piston in the little quarter quart wonder. That sucker made it 330 miles without a hiccup. I couldn't beleive it. It's pretty old and in kinda rough shape but it didn't miss a lick.

I Bought an XT225 about a year ago, changed front sprocket for more top end, and added a rear rack. Getting about 72-80 MPG. Great Bike Been thinking about selling it though since i bought a f650gs about two months ago.

Don't sell
Take it back to dirt trim and remove what you've done to "road it out". Use the Fgs for road and easy dirt, use the XT for more difficult dirt.

Good luck with whatever you decide. Maybe you could keep it as a first ds bike for your wife/gf/so?

Hi All, I purchased an XT225 this past spring and now time to start getting some accessories to make going abit further afield are needed. On post #275 Bonnie A.'s bike shows an interesting handlbar mounted map case. Bonnie or anyone know where to get one ?

And a similar question about the small tank bag shown on Master Chief's bike in post #277 .

I've had a great time on the XT thus far but after riding only a K75 for the last 18 years there have been transition issues. Forget to turn the gas on or off. No auto cancel of turn signal ( signal controls in odd places ) , get the choke on or off at right time. etc. And missing a tank bag or some place to keep map, cell phone , registration and insurance form etc. Last but not least , instead of passing 90% of other traffic I now get passed by 99% of the other traffic.

So I am looking to add the above and to make a choice about some sort of rear rack to help hold some soft bags on the back. Some big enough to make things stable but not so big as to 1) encourage me to carry to much stuff or 2) not too big to be a problem doing some light off road.

Since May only day trips but now looking to expand to a week end trip of 300 - 600 miles round trip. I am btw in WV so a trip from home, sw of Charleston, to the family hunting cabin , near Cass , is what I'm aming for first with excursions with Lt wt camping gear to follow - either from home or from the Cass cabin as a base , - gear tips for similar to above mentioned items will be appreciated.

Thanks ,

David
