And a really good story?
There has to be a really good story behind your broken leg.
Motorcycle adventure in a far way place? Or did you trip over the hose doing yard work like my neighbor last year? Oh yea, Valley Forge here... who wants to ride? |

Here's the story. My friend Dan and I met on I95 in Delaware on Wednesday. He rode down from NJ and I rode down from PA. We rode about 300 miles to Blackwater Lodge in West Virginia and got rooms. This was for the ADV Spring Frolic camping trip at Laurel Fork. We rode around the mountains on Thursday (while waiting for other friends) with no problems. On Friday we were riding around with two other friends and heading to the Laurel Fork Campground. They were way ahead of me. The road we were on was Middle Mountain Road, which is a gravel road. I was on a down slope going into a left hand curve when my rear tire slid out from under me. I started to put my foot down to try and catch me. Foot caught the road then twisted and bent. Good thing I had MSR motocross boots on or the fractures would have been a lot worse. Ended up with an oblique fracture of the distal fibula. Fun stuff. LOL |

I could barely put any weight on my left leg. It felt mushy and the pain was excruciating. They put me in a temporary cast pending examination by an Orthopedic Surgeon. The bike was put in the bed of a friend's pickup and I was driven home to Philly in same pickup. Bike is now at the dealer for an insurance estimate and I have a permanent cast on. No riding for at least 5 weeks. :::SIGH::: |

Would pretty much have to be on a weekend for me. 9-5 m-f snoozefest in the office and all. No real plans for particular weekends. I will be at the durty dabbers jon in first weekend of June and in New Hampshire June 18-26.

Intro
Guess I oughta introduce myself.
Russ here, just a few minutes south of Pittsburgh. I'm putting together a dual sport package for my XR400; almost done; needs DOT tires yet and new brake pads and paperwork, then it's ready. Looking for some nice dualsport rides in the area. I'm medium-offroad-savvy. I can't hang with the GNCC riders, but I can handle a little more than just simple fire roads. Had a great time a few years ago riding the trails up at Allegheny National Forest. I understand there are jeep trails and such a little east of here up in the Laurel Mountains; has anyone ridden these / have maps? Thanks! Russ |

I was actually on a County road. It just happened to be gravel.
I had/have no experience in gravel. Guess its time for some lessons as I'll be riding those roads again. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?qb1uof |

If you are back on two for the SYLT (Southern York and Lancaster Tour), you will have the chance to get more gravel time. Hope that you can make it.

near Williamsport / Muncy and looking for riding buddies! i'm more into the scenery than riding hard. i ride a DR650, mostly on secondary and unimproved roads and the occasional trail when i can find one :)
also love to explore off-beat places, abandoned places, etc. |

Checking in,
Lock Haven and York...depends where the work and RIDING is !!! viseGRIP we will have to get together and do some "camera" riding. I know the Bald Eagle and Sproul State Forests like the back of my hand...lots of good scenic areas. Who all is coming to the Durty Dabbers on June 2&3 ??? I ride a KTM 950 on most of the dual sport route with a few other inmates on BIG bikes and we are always looking for others to join in on the fun !!! As you can see from my post number(s) I am just getting to the profound amount of info and networking available on "THE" site. Hope to meet some of you at Durty Dabbers !!!
