I think roundabouts are great!! Most efficient system I've seen in travels around the blue marble. Nice to see more of them appearing in the US.

I recall the 3 and even 4 lane wide roundabouts in the UK, as a US righty driver, and a few times on bikes, YIKES, took me a bit to get in the groove, mixing it up with slow and fast vehicles -- bikes, cars and trucks/lorry's. You really have to read your signs and prep for battle, choose the right lane for entry an escape or get locked into round and round and round

New Jersey traffic circles

We used to have many of them in Joisey. They were great!!! Survival of the fittest. Traffic moved beautifully, as long as no one came off the gas. like a ballet or synchronized swimming. Like gears meshing!

They have been sequentially dumbing them down for the past few years. Now, there are all sorts of "Yield" signs, which get the soccer moms stopped dead in their tracks. Yuch!

I do remember how difficult it was to negotiate them clockwise in the U.K. and Australia.

More dangerous, though, was being a pedestrian. Step off the curb looking the wrong way was a recipe for "splat" on the front of a bumper!

no so rare here in the US

Spartanburg under I-85 Business
3 laner

there's one at I-26 & NC108 which replaced 2 traffic lights at each end of the overpass and on/off ramps

consists of 2 3/4 roundabouts at aech end of the overpass

traffic was always a backup in the AM, now it flows pretty quick
