Just a touch inland from another constant land movement spot (TwilightZone knows where):

And not far from that one (on a different road, two of several):

Didn't get the sign, but it said something like "vehicles over 10 tons max 5 mph on bridge" IIRC:

Is the first photo on Hwy 299? http://goo.gl/maps/XhbMv

and is the fourth photo the bridge joining Annapolis Road and Skaggs Springs Road? http://goo.gl/maps/0vl7B

Yes, on 299. Other pics are less than 5 miles from the first one.

Heh... that's a mystery road for most riders.

If you're riding 299 from Eureka to Willow Creek... look for "Chezem Road', it is a 'long cut' from 299. It takes off from 299 a bit east of Lord Ellis (first summit), and rejoins 299 a bit west of Berry Summit (second summit). (about 1/2 mile west after the 'big turn').

Chezem road is the 'old highway' 299, it goes down in the valley and crosses Redwood Creek on the old single-lane bridge. It is just a few miles, but a really nice road... very pretty most of the year. It gives riders a taste of what the 'old 299' was about.

If you're a bit old, you remember the gas station down there near Redwood Creek. I'm trying to remember what bloody brand the gas station was... maybe it was 'Signal' or the old Mobil (flying red horse)". Anyone know? Maybe dig a bit... it might have been the same brand of gas at Korbel.
