Welcome Turbine!

Manitoba bike insurance may make up your mind for you.

It has only 1 dividing point, either the bike's under 500cc, or it's over 500cc.

Motorcycle insurance is so high there, I would never
even consider living there again! (5X higher than I pay here)

You can get an online quote here : http://www.mpi.mb.ca/

I think there is quite a difference, so you might be better off with the 250...

Best of luck!

I pay a shade over 1000/year, and that's full merits, and insuring the bike for only $1000.

$500 deductible.

I'm surprised it's that cheap Humvee!
I keep getting ridiculous quotes like 2400 a year when I try using the MPIC online quote.

Sorry about that Walub...

So they're the same as here in Ontari-ar-ario...
I would have thought that the sale price would have come down over the last few years because of the stronger Canadian dollar, but if you're selling a bike in a market where every KLR produced is sold year to year, then I guess ther's no incentive to discount.

I bought my 2001 with 2800 km on it last year for $3000...got a really good deal.

I think once you state the value as 1500 or 2500, or heaven forbid a $20,000 motorcycle, the rates will very quickly climb to $2400/year

so...in effect MPIC will give me $1000 for the bike if it gets written off, because that's the value I'm insuring it for.

Klx250

Looks like I'll be getting the KLX250, I got the green light from the boss so I'll have another bike in the stable. My ZX6 is a awesome bike and I will regret trading it in so I'll keep it until I move to my next job in a few years. maybe we could get together for a weekend sometime this summer for a "boonie ride"

well take care

Jimbo

I've done a bit of riding on the ZX6 before..don't get rid of it, it's a sweet
bike!

My friend has a KLX250R with every mod known to man on it, I can put you in touch if you want. It responds to mods very well...

OH! And welcome to ADVrider!!!

I rode a lot of the roads around here on a Yammie FJ1100. I'm sure your 650 could do them with ease!

Wow I am going to have to look into this. It just does not make sence for me to be paying $2000 a year to insure a bike that I could probably not get much more that $7000 bucks for.

You can check it out right on thier website. Try insuring the bike as zero value.

Here in Ontario, we can get just PLPD, without collision. If someone runs into me, I'll still get the value of the bike.

However, in Manitoba, if you insure for zero value, and someone runs into you, you get nothing.

I lived in Manitoba for a number of years, and gotta admit I depised the insurance system there.

Another MPIC ripoff is trailers. Here, my car insurance covers the trailer,
and I buy a 15 dollar plate, and it's good for life. There, you have to insure and plate your trailer every year. I own 3 trailers, and that was getting pricey as well!!

Just for kicks, try a small town postal code. Your bike insurance will drop
to less than half, as soon as you get out of Winnipeg!!

I hear that theres a track plowed at Hawkeye Lake (T bay).Half-mile oval, with the season opener this weekend coming up.Not sure if its Sat or Sun. Also, the Lake Superior track will be on Bruly Bay,right across from the location of last winters track,up the road towards Chippewa Park,as soon as the bay on Lake Superior freezes over.Maybe with the cold snap it will be not long......Hektoglider.
