I believe I am going to sell it though.
Don't do it! For the money you get you'll regret it forever. I love the early 90's with the silver motor. Keep that ride and baby it! You'll love riding it in 10 years!

Thanks. I believe it's called a Rifle Fairing. It was a nasty looking purple when I got it and my brother painted it to match the bike.

It made a better than expected difference in wind protection.

The tire is a tourance from metzeler, i got em because they are supposed to last long and be decent grip.

A little story to go w/ a pic of my 7hunny.

Flash back: 1985, Van Halen begins to suck and Motorhead sounds just like they do today. I see a commercial where Freddie Spencer is scraping pegs on this thing. I gotta have one. Ask my Dad, he says no. I have his Yamaha triple to ride around (which looking back was a great bike and more than I deserved). Being the 15 year old asshole that I was at the time, I initiated a huge pissing match over it. A month passes and all is forgotten on my end of things. Dad and I are cool and its never mentioned again.

1993: Eight years later, I am outta college, settling into a new job, new apartment, and on the edge of struggling financially. Dad swings by my place one night on his way home from work and asks if I wanna go grab a beer & some dinner. I say yeah and we're off. We drive pass at least 5 suitable restaurants and continue out of town. We pull up to a house and I am wondering whats up. Dad says a guy at work was looking to buy his 1st bike and we were stopping to check it out for the him.

He gets out, goes up to the door, talks to the guy there, who in turn opens up the garage door. I get out and walk in to see 2 ski boats, a jet ski, a couple of dirtbikes, and two other bikes under covers. The guy takes the covers off and there sit 2 Nighthawk Ss. One red, one blue. While I am in the back drooling over these things, he must have walked out to the car. I turn around and he tosses a new red Arai at me and tells me to ride the thing home. Kodak moment for sure. He never forgot that fight. It was bittersweet for me to say the least. I was elated, riddled w/ guilt, and thankful to have him as my father all at the same time.

I still ride it regularly, will never sell it, and stop by to see my dad on it a few times each summer to say thanks for the bike and for putting up with an asshole of a son.

Nice story. Makes me appreciate my new (to me) '84 700s a little more. I'm only in my 2nd year of riding and haven't ridden a lot of bikes, but I can tell that these bikes are special.

Since many of you probably don't know what an '84 700s looks like, here's a picture of mine.
