A little JB Weld will fix that right up.

Where did you order your replacement from and what kind of price did you get on it? That and a proper windshield are the only parts of any significant that I still need to replace. I'm just going to let the crash bars be what they are.

So I'm in the market for a new dual-sport again

I'm thinking something like a Husky TE 610. They seem to be much cheeper than the KTM 690 E.

Here's one for $3,500
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=608977

and heres an 08 for $4,900
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=603575

Doesn't that sound like a good deal?

I just don't see why a comparable KTM 690 E is going for over $7,500 with twice as many miles. Any thoughts on this?

Good to see you back ready to ride, Elton.

I picked up an 06 610 back earlier this year and am happy with it so far. Like any bike, it has it's problem areas and quirks, but overall it's a good bike. The wide ratio tranny is great too. One of the big drawbacks to the Husky is the parts support, not the dealers but the factory. Seems that shipping to the States is pretty slow. There's not much aftermarket for them either, most everything is geared toward the smaller cc bikes.

Anyone riding twisties this weekend? I'm anxious to stretch the legs on the GS to make sure all is well with the front end. Probably looking for some higher elevations. Keeping an eye on rain chances.

Someone say "higher elevations"?

I'm thinkin' ya'll should come to Asheville - we are having a local area riders' camp out , ride, , camp some more, , ride some more, and probably some of this... . I know it is a bit far - but, PM if you are interested.

Anyway - I keep hoping to get back down to NGA soon!

I am headed to West Virginia to ride from the 19th to the 22nd. Please PM me if any of you have suggestions for great DS routes! I have been looking at Gaston Gagne's (HARDCORE thread) ride report for VA/WV and want to incorporate some of his route. I will either be staying near Charleston, or Cass.

Blessings all!

Mitch, congratulations on getting Scarlett back on the road.

DOGs, my ride report is almost finished. If you haven't looked at it in a while -- or at all -- go on over and check it out.

I'm almost up to this part.

Dang, that's a sad picture, but I've learned my lesson. I'm never poking fun at anyone having to trailer a GS again. (Are you listening Fido?)

Hey Chris, I was trying to remember, back when we were at the races at Road Atlanta a while back you had a new gizmo you were testing that was either a headlight protector and/or maybe a combo protector and Aux light mount.

Am I remembering that right, and what was your verdict on it? I might end up replacing my driving light bar because it is just sticking way too far out on each side to survive any sort of forced "dirt nap".

I've got new mounts on the way for mine, but definitely think I want something not quite as wide and out there long term.

Mitch,
The light protector/light bar combo on my 1200 is from McP Parts. He's an inmate here on ADV.
Here's a pic from the Website, which is at http://www.mcpparts.com/index.html

It is an incredibly well-made part, and beefy. It's a headlight protector with holes along the top of the crossbar so that you can mount lights. I haven't used it as a lightbar -- just as a headlight guard.

Here are a couple of pics of my bike with it mounted. If you want more detailed pics, jus' holla.

I cranked down on the little bolts that hold the lexan or whatever it is to the mount and made some spider cracks, but that was my hamfistedness.

Chris
