Rallies or Enduro races for big dual sports bikes in Ireland?

Hi All,

Does anyone know of any enduro type events for larger Dual Sport bikes like a KLR, Africa Twin or a 990 Adventure in Ireland.
From looking around the net there seems to be plenty of Enduro and Hare and Hound events but I reckon these are only suitable for propper off-road machinery.

There seemed to be something like this in the UK, but its a bit far to travel:

And the HUBB event in the Pyrenees also looks cool:

Anyone know of anything like this a bit closer to home for me and my KLR?

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your reply and the link.
I think you have confirmed my suspicions that there are not really any big bike rallies in Ireland.
I had in mind someting like the Cambrian Rally which from the photos looked like a lot of fun and something I would love to try.
Do Irish riders tend to travel to events like this?

I doubt I will have time at the moment to travel down the country for the UKGSR Reci spin but I will keep an eye out for any other spins (especially ones close to Wicklow).

Cheers

Yes we do have people travelling over from Ireland to compete in the Cambrian also you could consider the Beacon Rally.

Try the mothball rally, run by TORC. Contact the club as I'm not sure if you've to be a member to attend!

Hey dibdob69, cheers for the update and the link, that is exactly what I was looking for, its a pitty there is nothing like that in Ireland. Still I might see if I can make it over for the Cambrian RALLY in October or next year for sure.

Hey robszombie, I had heard about that TORC mothball rally. I couldnt find too much info on it but it looks like it will be very road baised for the lads that spend most of their time off-road, I was looking for the opposite.

Now this Paddy Dakar looks exactly like what I had in mind. Thanks for the info Phil, will you be attending yourself? It sounds like it is getting good support on the vairous fourms anyway.

I hope to try and make it to this. My wife had our second son last week and I used up all of my "passes" on a trip to Morocco earlier in the year, so weekends away on the bike are few and far between. Still, I will start pleading my case now and hope to at least make it for the Saturday of the Paddy Dakar.
Anyone else planning to attend?

I will take a trip down anyway to have a look and take a few pics and hopeully have a chat with the irish dakar team.

Hey benny13,

Has that law from the greens been passed? Is it just for the areas marked as national parks that you have to stay out of?

As for the Paddy Dakar, i think it is still time to sign up if you email the organiser and send in your money.

My KLR was stolen this month so ill not be able to make it. Pain in the ar$e because it sounds like itll be a great event. I hope it takes off.

What events are you hoping to do in wales.
Im hoping to get over a do a few myself.
I was thinking of doing the K2, but this is in North England or else the rally sprint.
Let me know if your still interested in sharing transport costs.
