nice pic, ah the "cool" old days

I found a unused version of that deck and snapped it up for the wall. I had swapped the original for some other deck at the time. I was a skate whore, always changing stuff around.

When I was a kid, Road Rider wheels were rare and spurred a bit of jealousy. I had the good fortune to have urethane wheels, but open ball bearings instead of sealed. My board was simple plastic, too. I think it was called a banana board, which makes sense since it was bright yellow. Some of the kids were getting aluminum decks and grip tape started showing up in the neighborhood. Our junior high banned skateboards, so no commuting on them.

When I was boarding, they hadn't invented urethane wheels or sealed bearings yet, or they weren't available in the midwest anyway. ('65, Ohio) We discovered that wood wheels wear differently with than against the grain, and become oval half way down the long hill!

Composite wheels showed up and that saved us from serious injury.

I was at a skating rink in Okmulgee, OK, back in the early 70s and had a clay wheel explode in a race. Rental skates, so I wasn't out anything, but I was glad the truck didn't dig into the wooden track and faceplant me. It was the right-front wheel of my right skate and it blew in a turn, so the opportunity was there for a bad crash.

Looks like there has been a little inflation in skateboarding since the 70s.

Been out just at lunch carving around on the loaded deck, way fun.
Then my kid (6) tried it and was having fun so I broke out the old sector nine longboard. Was way different feeling a kicktail again. I love both styles, might have to bring both to work for the lunch time spins.

oh and nice vid here

grabbed the sector 9 for the lunch time spin today

Boy I am stiff, I need to keep this up.

I also need to get the sander out and sand out some wells on this deck, I loosened up the trucks a bunch after riding the loaded deck and I was wheel biting a bit too much. Maybe smaller wheels too but I don't want to sacrifice ride. Maybe a set of 60mm 85a
saw this from the roof of the parking place , don't folks just call the cops anymore!

sure was fun though.
I have the arrow to remind me which way I refer to ride

thanks, was a bit worried taking the new camera down the slopes holding on to the gorilla pod. wasn't going fast but still would have messed it up.

Guess I need to invest in a gopro now

and damn if I have some research to do for the wheels!
http://www.silverfishlongboarding.co...Wheel_Reviews/

oh and very bad small video only the 3rd time out after 1year plus off the wheels I suck!

cut short, after the slide I tried a nose wheelie and with the loose trucks the front wheel bite sent me flying!
