I hadn't known that he started as a motorcyclist, or that he was a fellow native of San Francisco.

Thanks for the link, sad he felt he needed that way out.

I'm in the exact same place in my life except I work in a lab. I would say take it slow. I decided to go back to the batting cages to get a little exercise and have some fun and I pulled a muscle in my lower back. I swung at 100 balls three weeks ago, hit maybe half of them, and still can't put all of my weight on my right leg.

Needless to say, we're not kids anymore. Id worry less about splitting your skull and more about feeling the burn in the weeks to come. Drink plenty of water, be sure to stretch, and have a killer time with your new board.

Good job breaking out of the cube, have fun bro.

Damn... Been eyeing longboards for a little while. Keep telling myself I already have a ton of toys and besides, I'm about to turn 40... then I see this. If we had hills at all around here I'd already have one.

bought my kid a ladera mini, with 80a wheels so he can cruise with dad, well actually so he would stop using my loaded deck.
need to mount a go-pro to the front of this thing one day.

This thread hits close to home. Mentally, I am not too old to skate..physically, maybe..i was out six weeks ago with my boys, 4 and 7. We were at the local skatepark and I was on my old Vision Psychostick, and I was having a ball, no lip tricks, but riding the bowls well...until I wasn't. Snapped my left achilles. Probably pushed off too hard to get higher..so, go skate, but stretch more. You don't wanna go through this!

these days..and well..anyone wanting to go faster than walking speed..get some rubber wheels..no seriously....back in the early 90s i want to say 90/91?..they came up with the idea of "monster truck boards" with rubber wheels on oversized trucks with HUGE risers ....on a wider and longer than normal board..it aint the "long boards" of the past but still a wicked animal......

blastin down hills keeping up with traffic you dont look ahead at those pebbles and wonder..you dont look at the cracks and stepups in the pavement and pucker....most gravel will slow you down grass is fun dirt is good mud is..50/50

been a few years since i was on my board more than a couple blocks....since its primary use was behind my dog...3 miles in just shy of 10 mins...we would blast bike trails at full run carving it all up....miss my mutt

ill have to toss a pic of the board up ..for being 20 years old it still looks newish even tho the tires are bald down the midles LOL

somewhere around here ive got a red slimeballed, barbed wire alcatraz board

heal up fast, the psychostick was a cool baord, I got my grigley hanging on the wall. I found some nice foundation boards for the skate park, but I am safer cruising for now.
