Today was one of the nicest days so far this year in the great Pacific NorthWet. I wanted to take Ms Chang* up into the hills and show her what this KLR thing is good for (besides commuting and prolonged grocery runs). She had a blast! Her favorite parts were the rough stuff...the water bars and other things that required a bit of gas to negotiate. Her immediate response was, "do they make this thing a bit smaller for people my size?" We might have to look around for a Sherpa....

*Ms Chang is not her real name, nor is she Chinese or even Jewish.

So we headed up into the Cascade foothills and chased up and down the logging roads. She was hooked!

Since she likes it, I'll have to hook her up with some proper dualsport kit. After all, she only has TWO jackets (stop laughing, she's still kinda new at this) and those pants she's wearing are mine...can ya tell they're a tad on the long side?
Donna at North Fork: valley below

One of the roads had washed out big-time this past winter. No, I didn't...it's a KLR, not a helicopter.

We finally came to a stretch where we couldn't make it any further. Consequently, the obligatory bike standing up by itself in the snow picture. Wanna know how cool Ms Chang is? She said, "I'll get off the bike and you go back and just take a big run at it! Just gas the hell out of it!" Ummm...no, dear...it's not a Skidoo....

We stopped on the way home at the famous North Fork Brewery, Pizza Parlor, Beer Shrine and Wedding Chapel. Wonderful "live ales" and incredible gourmet pizza...the perfect end to our 100-mile jaunt in the hills. She can't wait to go again...ain't I lucky?

My better half learned to water ski at 34, to ride a bike at 40 to dirtbike at 44. I am just waiting for her midlife crisis.

stock just cranked up all the way. I'm 6'2 - 220lbs plus all the gear, we rode 2200 miles across Mexico and back with no problems at all. Now I need new rear tire and don't know what I want.
