I had only planned to get it as a hack bike but I have already fallen inlove with it and have plans to turn it into a decent adventure bike, so I have some questions that need answering and was hoping that you lot may be able to help? I want to fit a long range fuel tank to it, I live in the UK, do any of you know where I can get one? Also pannier racks...is it possible to get them for this model? Any help would be great. I will be postion some pics of the bike, sort of a befor and after, with quite alot of pics during the process too hopefully!!! Thanks alot!
You're lucky being in the UK. A guy from UK preped his XT 600 for adventure riding, you will find A LOT of useful information here:

These guys will probably offer you a lot of custom accesories if you ask them:

Hey. Cheers for the links. I have managed to find a long range fuel tank for the bike, and I have decided on "Andy Strapz Adventure Panniers", I will be making the rack for the panniers and also a bash plate. So that just leaves buying some new bars for the bike and locating a decent treated sheeps skin, fortunatly I work on farms here in Scotland so that shouldnt be too much of a bother! But if any of you have any more links or ideas please let me know!!! I will also be getting the frame painted, possibly powder coated...but I think thats just a wee bit too expensive, so spray paint it will be, it will end up getting scratched up anyway!!!

Hei, one question if I may. Does the acerbis tank have that fuel hose to allow the fuel to go from one side to the other? I've seen that on the tank of 640 Adventure, and it is a smart thing. On these kind of tanks, fuel might stay just in one half...

Thanks,
Adrian

Mine actually just has two fuel valves, one on each side and the both feed into the main fuel line

Same here. Once the fuel is down to the sides it actually makes it kinda like two tanks. You can run off either side if you choose to.

I usually run off the right side tank, so if I get low, it's an easy reach down to the left to turn on that side.
