TT600 oil Tank On 86 Xt600

Hey, Thanks for the pics. Nice to see in place and working. Do you have to go with the pods or will the stock airbox work with the TT600 oil tank?

I am not sure. I looked at a parts schematic and there are differences in the filter element and the inlet. The rest looks very simular. Push comes to shove get an air box from a tt.

Tank stickers

Looks like the '86 XT tank graphics are on the wrong sides. Still looks good. I just put new graphics on my '86 is why it caught my eye.

Someone not too far away has a 1994 XT600 for sale, asking $1800. Says it's in good shape. Anything I should be concerned with on this year/model or XT's in general?

Thanks.

The main difference in the 84 and newer models is the 84 has a Nikasil liner instead of a steel liner. You cannot bore them, however, they can be repaired and replated but the cost is high. If you need a cylinder there are plenty on eBay for later years and should just bolt up.

If I understand correctly, the head and the valve cover are a matched set on all XT's as the overhead cam rides in bearings built into the head and cover and must be matched to give the proper clearance. I see those parts sold on eBay separately lots of times. If you ever need either one, make sure you get a set that is matched. I do not know if the parts have identifiers to show the matching or not. I am sure someone on here can expand on this or correct me if I am wrong.
