How do yooze guys feel about Fortis watches?
There seems to be very little info out there on them. I've got a line on one a Pilot Professional at a really good price. Anybody have any experience with them?

I've seen them in jewelry stores from time to time. They're nice Swiss made automatics and nobody builds automatics like the Swiss! If you have a line on a good, used one, I say go for it. I like easy to read watch faces and this one fills the bill. Just a little research on the Internet says Fortis has developed watches for the Russian space program and they've been used by Cosmonauts in space. The metal band model is better than a grand, new.

My opinion of the one you have pictured is it's a nice clean, classic looking time piece. If it has the original box and papers, that's a big plus.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

No, but it is a classic looking nice military style watch.

Yes, I own a Spacematic day/date like the one pictured below. It houses an ETA 2836-2 movement, is built like a tank, keeps good time and has been problem free for many years now. Take a look at their webpage for some history, http://www.fortis-watches.com/front_....php?idart=271

They definitely fit the thread title, cool watches..

I've always liked Fortis, I recall they had a few really interesting concepts.

What watch are you wearing today?

For me it is a Seiko 6309/6105 mod vintage diver on a black cloth-pattern leather strap.

I have a super oyster bracelet with solid end links coming, and a 22mm vintage leather from panatime to go on my SKX when it finally arrives from HK.

But with a black band.
Very cheaply made auto but nice enough looking.

I got one of these as a gift once, although mine was a less ornate version. I loved its looks, but it was pretty cheap. It gained about five minutes a week and died completely in two years.

I'd love another auto - something good but inexpensive liek a Seiko 5 - but I can never find any other than metal bracelet diver styles.

You're not trying very hard. This watch comes in blue, tan, and green:

My Grandfather passed away last year & gave me all of his personals before he fell ill.

I wear his 1962 Omega Constellation. He was a tanker/cargo/cruise Captain, and has been all over the world, multiple times. He actually purchased it in Geneva. I have the original box & receipt!

Ive replaced the bands with glazed alligator. For leather watch bands, check out Banda.com. Great stuff at great prices.

Crappy iphone pic. And yes, Im a hairy Greek bastard!
