GOOD fakes are worth a lot more. Depending on who you ask!

Fakes are fakes, they're shit.

I took some more pics. The face shot is impossible to get without some reflection, and the rest are about what I can do with a phone.

The inside of the band has a 76 on it, so I'm guessing year made?

I got one of the back, not sure what you mean about the end links unless they are the ones connected to the watch.

I took the band off, but it's really, really hard to see anything. Even with a magnifying class, I can barely make out any lettering. There is some wear in the middle of the case. Playing with the band, the top piece next to the watch bends down some, and I think over time has worn an area. Maybe someone with more magnification could do it, but unless I can find my old jewelers loop, I can't do it. I can make out what looks like a '75', but that's about it.

my point was just that it wouldn't be a "good fake". there was a pun intended. if it's quartz, and the second hand hacks instead of sweeps, it would take "2 seconds" to figure out. That being said, while the watch looks authenitc, I thought they all had a serial number on the case.

looks like a genuine 1675 radial dial to me!

here's one going for $9,500 -- albeit in better shape. I bet your watch is worth some serious dough, though. I'd send it to rolex for reconditioning and wear the fuck out of it. Nice watch, man! One of my grails.

Don't send it to Rolex! They'll redial and replace the hands, and the watch will be worth around 30-40% less than it is now.

Some are $8 pieces of shit, while others are $180 pieces of shit. I was surprised to hear of fake auto chrono movements like a chinese 7750 knockoff, which was unheard of just a few years back.

Thanks. If I wore it, I'd damage it, loose it, etc. I suppose I'll put it somewhere nicer than back in the same box. If I wore a watch, which I don't, I'd go back to a Timex Ironman or similar than I can trash and not worry about. It would really suck to loose knowing it's actually worth something.

The clasp code indicates that it's a pre-76 as Rolex went to an alpha code in '76 (A*). And it appears to be an original "1675" model GMT, which is correct.

As far as servicing goes, sign up on timezone - www.timezone.com and ask around as to who is thought of as the best person in your area (or region) for vintage Rolex service.

I tried a number of "Swiss Army" watches. They just did not hold up for me. I went through about three of them because I liked the plain styling. The first two failed within a year, the third one lasted less than two.

I switched to Citizen (yes, I know, not the premium brands people are showing here) and have been happier with them. My daily wear watch, I have been using for about four years straight, has had no issues.

well that sucks. my sa pocket watch has been excellent. i did have a sa with a plastic body that eventually pulled through at the band, but that's only problem i've had.

i have my dad's citizen and it too has been a great watch. very solid.

I had one SA watch lasted about 8 months before shitting bed, also had a really cool SA travel alarm clock that's control button broke off within one year, it was actually a really cool clock, and was pissed it was designed so poorly. I tried to have it repaired and no one would touch it.

I now stick with Seiko's for my cheap watches.
