I must conced that I knee jerked my reaction to him. He is a very knowledgeable person on watches. However, I do feel he is a little insulting and condescending, at least in my opinion.

Love it. I had a 6309 when they came out when I just got in the Army. At least I think when they came out. This was 1978 OR SO.

Wow, me like it very much!

I took a new pic of my SKX today, that's a good reason to share:

My 1964 Breitling Navitimer, got it for nothing 15 years ago, as it wasn't working, spent a few hundred quid getting it repaired and hasn't missed a beat since. Made me feel old a few months back though, a girl a bit younger than me who I was going out with asked why I fiddled with my watch every morning, she just couldn't get her head round the fact that watches didn't always have batteries .

A half-century-old beater that works is very cool.

Eco Drive Help

Watch people,

I found this Citizen Eco Drive Radio Controlled in a drawer earlier this year and have no idea what to make of it. Citizen does not list its movement caliber number (H417) on the Citizen Website and the only info I can find on H417 is that it appears produced for the Japanese market called the "Galileo Limited."

My watch (sorry for the bad picture):

The H417 Galileo

Website with watch for sale

Any help would be appreciated, specifically if it is a Japanese-market watch and will not work on the US frequency how can I set the time manually.

Does anybody here modify their own watches?

I've started looking at Seiko divers and ordered an Orange Monster. I'm thinking about making some changes if I can do it myself.

I may just wear it and buy some old ones to tinker on too.

Changing stuff like swapping the bezel, bezel insert or the complete movement including dial and hands is easy plug-and-play.

Swapping hands needs a steady hand and some tools. My mod above was done with the "improved watch mod/maintenance tool kit" from www.10watches.com

The best way is of course to get one or two scrap watches for a couple of dollars to fool around; then you don't slap yourself if you scratch a dial or bend your seconds hand. Damn things are tiny.
