Since someone said on another thread that this thread if full of "fancy-shmancy" watches, here is the 1970 Timex my father gave me in 1979. Still ticking, of course.

Different band, though. I usually wear it with a black leather band from Wal-Mart.

Oh, and here is the 1980's Citizen I inherited from my grandfather:

It's on its 5th or 6th band as well.

I would tend to think knockoff, but I don't really picture someone making a fake Breitling Aviator, complete with the little box that tests the distress signal, which is what I was looking at at the time.

Anyone bought anything along the same lines, Rolex, Omega, Tag out of the country and saved a bundle? Just curious.
As noted I would recommend only an authorized dealer. And in fact I have seen fake breitling aviators around. Of course, it was a guy in dakar and they were so obviously fake it didn't fool anyone....

I just picked up the Maratac Mid Pilot Watch and I swapped the NATO band for a leather one-- I have to say it's pretty darn handsome.

Not an Areospace, but I have a Bently and LOVE it. Had it about ten years or so now and perfect very accurate watch. It is my favorite watch and I have about 25 watches.

Thanks. I'm interested in the Aerospace in particular. Wondering about the visibility of digital display and functionality if the crown.

I have an original Ti Navtimer, what became the aerospace - with the analog hour and minute and two reverse LCD displays.

I wore mine for more than 15 years every day. Apart from a problem under warranty, it's been trouble free.

Hopefully the lume on the new models is better than my old one, but it was good when new, on the original the digital display did NOT have backlight - I don't think it does now, but I'm not sure.

The crown is pretty easy to use once you figure it out, but it is not a screw-down so the watch is not really 'waterproof'.

The darn thing is really light - almost as light as a plastic watch, at least my early model is very easy to wear.

Mine uses an early movement that is not thermally compensated, I'm told the newer TC's are superbly accurate - mine was always more than fine enough and did pass the COSC.

I own this one and a Colt GMT - love both of 'em.

Here's the Maratac Mid Pilot watch that I picked up the other day. I swapped out the NATO band for a leather band, I like the results.

Mikey likey! I like pilot watches but the original Maratac was too big for my taste. Maratac Midsize is on the list.

that's really attractive. Too large for my tastes, though.
