I did this for two reasons, first I didn't want someone cutting off my arm to steal my watch, and second, I didn't want to damage my watch since i was in the Army and then worked at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and worked with my hands and was diving every day three times a day. I didn't like leaving the pres in the locker because even then it was worth a ton.

Are you speaking of an NAWCC show?

I've been a member since '90. Also own a Monaco.

Shame about the dog tag... but I like this take on a custom Rolex:

That dial was referred to as the "California" dial, but I have no idea why. I don't care for the dial, but I would love to see Rolex make a black PVD Submariner.

My newest, from April of 1969. It has the 6139 movement, arguably the first automatic chronograph ever.

Great watch. I love those and have shopped them before...just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Very elegant. I'm always contemplating getting a 6139. But I have recently discovered the later 7016 with the square bodies. Browsing eBay..

Likewise, I don't really like the dial either.

Thrice the same, I think it would be ultra cool if the dial was just a black regular Submariner dial.

The dial is just plain odd. But the only aspect that bugs me is the absolutely random use of a "__" for the six-o'clock marker. Wtf? I could almost get by the other aspects. But every time I look at a California dial my mind wanders off to the wtf question.

My Poljot....

The house mongrel got ahold of it. Both sides of the band are chewed up, crystal is cracked. Movement is still functioning.

Anyone know a watch repair in / near Columbus, OH that will treat this right? I'd already picked this out as my 'Getting married in' watch in exactly one month from tomorrow, so a quick turnaround would be ideal. Found a black PVD stainless bracelet that is going on it, I've wanted to change that since I got this.

That underscore is just uber weird. Really to me it looks like they got too crazy assed artsey on it and it plain just doesn't work for me.
