I gave a Rolex Submariner I bought new in 1970 to my son about 5 years ago. He's loving it.

Thinking, just thinking, I wouldn't mind having another Rolex, used this time. The ones that interest me are the Submariner again, and the GMT Master.

What say you Rolex gurus, any benefit of one over the other, apart from style? Are used prices similar?

Any difference in ease of resale if I decide to part with it?

Your thoughts please.....

Q about import fees

Looking at the ebay ad, it mentions import fees.
NOOB question--having never purchased anything that required import fees, anyone have the short answer how that works.
ie. based on actual purchase cost?,
or manf. retail, etc.?
Who do you pay it to? = who colects the fee?

and not least of all, is this a reputable brand, or is it a 3week throwaway?

It depends in which country you are located... In the US, I never paid any fee.
I think the watch is reliable. Find a reliable dealer and you should be ok!

I had never paid any fees for anything..until my last watch from Portugal.
FedX shipped it, and when it landed in Memphis, I got a email notice from them that it was being "valued"
Got it the next day..then about a week later FedX sent me a bill for $35ish explaining that they paid the "dudy" so there would be no delay in shipping. But now pay up.

It looks great.

Time zone.com is a good source for both models used. GMT is typically more expensive, but of course age and condition are variables.

I acquired it in a trade but it is indeed one of Jake's dials. His bezel as well.

So, as mentioned above, I was in the Marina Bay Sands shopping complex in Singapore this evening. There are plenty of watch shops there, probably couldn't go 100m without seeing one.

Anyway there is a shop there for Roger Dubuis. Pretty flash, not my kinda style but they did have a 'Excalibur' there. Seemed pretty cool. Its got a double tourbilon movement. Don't know why it needs two, probably because it can and if you have one, you got some thing some one else doesn't.

Anyway, here is the first link I came about it - check the price!
http://www.gemnation.com/watches/Rog...0-B-16842.html
The amount SAVED, is almost as much as my weekender hideway cost!

Here is link to their website
http://www.rogerdubuis.com/

The salesguy was allright, deffo had the sales patter down and wasnt offended when I said that its not my style, they don't have the ruggedness of a Rolex, he said its like wearing a Ferrari on your wrist.
He knew his game
