I should have bought the watch....
Quote:
Yes, a nice collection of Russins.... or are they Chinese copies. yikes. While I was stationed in Rota Spain, my crew chief seemed like he was 'always' sporting a new Russian watch he bought in the flea markets of Jerez or Cadiz. I could kick myself for not going on a prospecting run with him when i had a chance. smile. We really ragged him about his Chinese copies. grin. Were they Chinese? who knows...they were cheap (1993-95) I recall they were less than $25, usually in the $10-15 range as I recall; could be wrong. shrug. As a side bar note: Jerez is also the home of the Spanish F-1 and Super bike races (hope I am saying that correctly) and I was to cheap to spring for the ticket. Hold/hang head in shame.... During Super Bike week, it was a lot like Sturgis, loud, loud bikes, and all the trimmings. Did you know the Europeans like their Harley's as loud as possible? head scratch.... Where did they get that idea? Another interesting thing about Jerez Racetrack, you could ride the track for about $10 hour after your bike was inspected and you were 'qualified' = full race gear approved by the approvers. Unfortunatly, that was during a time i was bikeless, but what the heck, I got to work nearly every day of the year. ![]() This is what I missed; guess a guy could repent... http://www.experienceboxspain.com/gift/driving/formula-one-jerez ![]() Long way to go for just a watch. Should take in the races as well.

I want to go there some day.

But speaking of watches, it was fun/easy/interesting to make a cool sun dial when the sun is making a small circle around you in December.

One watch is 6 sets of tires! (grin)
[QUOTE=Rick G;20629348]Hey all you Lum-Tec Lovers! I just got an email from Lum-Tec that they are having a sample and open box sale. The watches that were used by salesman or for photo shoots are being sold off at discount.
Check out this link: http://www.lum-tec.com/collection/cu...box-items.html I apologize in advance for costing anyone some hard earned cash. Good thing they don't charge to look! The Combat B 16/17 watch I liked was 6 sets of Kenda's for my KLR-fleet! smile. I should order 2! Rick, What I did learn from your very nice ad is this: The NATO watch straps on the Combat series are 'it'. There is a beautiful, correctly contructed NATO strap (and others) available as well: http://www.lum-tec.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=NATO+straps disclaimer: no affiliation; just looking for the high quality NATO straps (also open for suggestions--ie NATO straps.)

My 2004 (TOMAXUSA.com which I don't think exists anymore) KTM Stainless Watch. Dug it out of my bin of goods. Put in a new batt and she runs perfect. It isn't super fancy but has some pretty cool details... One, the KTM logo, a domed mineral crystal , simple hands with a sweeping seconds hand. The movement is a tried and true Miyota , made in Japan motor. The band has a unique long solid link attaching to the fully brushed stainless case with a nice snap closure. I think I paid $50 for it in 2004 (same year I got my 950).

Thinking it might be time to add a quartz to my collection. Want something I can grab and go.
PRS10 seems to fit the bill. Superluminova. 10-yr lithium battery. Nice vintage look and very low cost.

So my Vostok Amphibia got sent back to Mother Russia yesterday. Kept popping out a gear, and wouldn't stay wound, even when I manually wound it. The seller agreed to take it back on warranty - we'll see if I get it replaced or not. If I get screwed, I'm only out $60, so it's no big deal. I really liked it though, and I hope that if I get the replacement that it will be better. It really had a great feel and look, and it was rock solid waterproof. In the meantime I'll probably pick up a G-shock or something as a beater.
