Ain't cheap - agreed. I'm sure your local coating company could do it for much, much less. Might not like the results though.

I'd have to see one/inspect before I pulled the trigger on one of my Rolex watches.

Here's a few more of his examples - I can't see doing this to a Daytona:

SD:

It's a bit of a risk to do this to a Rolex - some have said that a Rolex Service Center won't work on one of these and you are likely impacting the resell value.

You pays your money/you takes your chances.

That's the first thing that came to my mind, resell value would probably go way down. I was wondering what my SD would look like, now I know. Cool

Yeah, if you want a PVD Sub, do it to one of the million watches copied off the Sub.

Question: I want to purchase an Omega seamaster aqua terra midsize. The authorized dealer price is outside of my price range. It can be bought online for substantially less. How will this effect my future repair/ calibration options?

Omega warranties are transferrable (unlike Rolex). Look on TZ, within a few days to a couple of weeks you'll probably find a mint/nearly new example of what you want for about 50% off of list (the best AD pricing I've seen is 30% off list, that discounting pushes used prices down). The used watch should come with a valid warranty card, giving you entre to Omega service centers. That said, unlike Rolex, Omega service in the US has a shaky reputation, esp. the center in New Jersey, so it may not be that big an issue buying from a non-AD.

The only thing that's "shaky" is buying an Omega online. Their website clearly states they do not sell watches online.

Ursa/GS please elaborate. What is tz? Regarding "shaky" I'm assuming the reason this watch is available online is because it is from a nonauthorized dealer. For instance, on site (with a higher price) is amazon. Not an authorized dealer, but I trust them to not sell me a knock off. Thoughts.

TZ is short for Time Zone, an online watch forum.

Take a look at their Omega FAQs especially the one under "Dealer Issues" http://www.chronomaddox.com/tzof_faq.html#Dealer_Issues

And this from Omega under "ARE OMEGA WATCHES SOLD OVER THE INTERNET?" http://www.omegawatches.com/index.php?id=438

My advice is to buy from an authorized dealer. You can still find a discount.

The Seiko SBDC001 (Sumo) is a Japan only model, so you can't buy it from a dealer in the USA.
I recommend Seiya, a fantastic Japanese Watch Dealer that ships to the USA, has great customer service, etc.

Look Here

I was getting absolutely no work done for weeks eyeballing watches I could not afford, so I picked this one up to tide me over until I can save up the coin for something decent. Yeah...it's just a citizen. But it'll knock you out! I'm a sucker for the E6B sliderule.

Not mormally a ana digi fan but that thing is sweet! I also love huge chronos at or above 47mm in dia. What is that one case size wise? About 50MM?
