Yao's Kingston Project update

Here's the lastest drawing from the MKII Project Kingston:

This isn't the final design. I suspect he'll make the markers thicker and there are other changes requested.

The first 100 are spoken for - the next phase will open later. See Bill Yao's page here and the forum here where Bill is working through the open questions.

My olongapo

When I made the decision to go into the service, it wasn't a popular one among my friends. I'll keep my reasons to join to myself but I will say that the service was very good for me and helped to shape my future.

As I grow older, those days as an 18-22 year-old mean more to me than I realized previously. The people that I served with, the job we did and the impact that we had on each other are worth remembering.

To that end, I decided to work with Jaffy in the PI as he made an olongapo band for me. I chose the symbols and Jaffy did the work. I'll put it initally on an O&W and we'll see how it looks on Bill's Kingston.

I am pleased with Jaffy's work:

Picked up one of these little discontinued beauties today. Got a pretty decent deal from my dealer.

Very nice IWC. Anybody out there have a Hamilton multi touch that you'd like to get rid of?

What I don't get is what the hell is worth that much money about it? If you break it down, it's roughly $3000k per watch... pretty sure you can get a gorgeous dual winder (at least) for $500.

bomb shelter maybe?

Maybe it was owned by the Romanov's...?

I don't get it, even if it's a one off - I think I could pay someone to make an exact replica for 20k...

We saw some friends over the weekend and Roger told us a story I thought you guys would enjoy.

He's restoring the Porsche 911 that he's owned for over 15 years - its at the bodyshop getting painted. He went by to pick up the seats so they could be recovered while the car is in the paint shop. The guys at the shop removed the seats for him and found a watch under the drivers seat that they gave to Roger thinking that he'd dropped it there.

Roger had never seen the watch before - its a $3200 Tag-Heur and after putting a new battery in it it was running and working fine. He was wearing it Saturday night and it didn't even have a scatch on it.

Cool story.

Must be a pretty rare T-H to be that expensive and have a battery... do you know the model? Was it as old as the car?

Rummaging around I found a watch of my dads from either the 50's or 60's.

It's a Borel cocktail and is pretty cool. I'd be interested in selling it if someone knows what it might be worth.

It looks just like this one but mine is a little nicer, the kailadscope is bright gold on mine.
