Vietnam,Laos,Cambodia Visas. Not motorcycle related.
Did a quick google but all I found were travel agents...
One question someone here may know the answer... Can we just front up at an airport or border crossing in these countries and get a tourist visa for a few days stay (like Thailand) or do we have to apply in advance through an embassy/consulate? One Aussie and one Kiwi passport want to visit one of these countries for about a week...(Hell, I want to visit for a year or three but the Mrs thinks buying a house and looking after (her) kids is more important...) Thanks for any info and apollogies for non advrider topic. |

Vietnam requires that you obtain a visa before entry. There is some other scheme for pre-application and then collecting one on arrival, but I don't have any details. I had my local travel agent arrange a standard visa, the cost was equivalent to about US$50.
Normal entry to Thailand (i.e. via main airports) does not require any visa. Don't know how you'd go at minor land border crossings. Laos requirements are not known to me. |

Laos and Cambodia visa.
I have visited Laos and Cambodia flying in from Thailand in the last 12 months. Visa's could be obtained on arrival (airport). Ensure that you have a passport size photograph for Cambodia. Visa cost was US$20 for a 30 day visa.
I didn't have a photograph for the Laos visit and that didn't cause any problem but would still recommend having a photograph. Can't remember the visa cost but suspect it was around 1500 Thai baht but slightly cheaper if paid in US $. I also recollect that this visa was only granted for two weeks but could be extended at extra cost. |

Would not the obvious answer be to contact the embassies of the countries you want to visit?

I S'pose I could afford a phone call or two...
But I don't have a week to wait for a visa. That would require being organized to some degree and knowing well beforehand when/where you are going... Found out a week ago we're going to Thailand and if business is taken care of may (or may not) have time for a short visit to one of these countries. Hence we just want to turn up when/if we're ready and take it from there... Thanks again for all the info. |

so we lobbed at Dover and were told that but my ex wife told THEM "about their parentage" and how she had been to France 6 times over 15 years and no visa so family got on ferry and at France wife me and 2 kids got arrested and 12 year old son [who was born in UK] was allowed into France while we were escorted back to ferry with our passports in a "plain brown paper envelope" only to be returned once in UK I got rid of her 3 years later moral is always best to check at embassy BEFORE |
