Old thread but still a good one. I have the Whelen TIR3 on a couple of bikes. Anyone following may not see the bike stop light but they are definitely gonna see the TIR. I have the Back-Off module on another bike & a friend has the strip--neither has the effect of the TIR. In fact, if viewed slightly off to the side the module is not even visible....

Those Whelen lights are pricey but definitely worth every penny. I have a couple of friends that have light bars of Whelen lights for tail, turn & stop lights. Stevie Wonder could see those.

I think the stock LED tail light on my bike isn't all that bright on bright days, so the Whelen operating as a running and brake light should be good.

I have it recessed below my Givi topcase rack so I will get my riding buddy to give me his feedback once we're back on 2 wheels.

So here are the pics. I use Bobs half intensity TIR3 as a running light on the bottom and a standard TIR3 at steady burn on top as the brake light. If you don't mind the flashing pattern you only need one of Bob's LEDs. It runs at half intensity and flashes at full intensity when you hit the brakes. There's no way to disable or alter the flash pattern with the modified LEDs. This is why I bought a second TIR3, I didn't want the flash pattern. I made a custom bracket using some sheet metal but I'm thinking of making another one and mounting the LEDs directly under the top case.

i used a piece of aluminum angle iron to attach the lights to the bike. i used 2 lightbars next to each other to spread the loght out. they are both running/brake lights

Thanks. I move them to a different location. They are now between my top box oem light.
