so i get my bike back after a transmission/bottom end rebuild and there's a lot of oil dripping out of the left side of the motor near or at the slave cylinder.
also my clutch lever was fading as if it was losing hydraulic fluid.

my guess is that the O ring at the slave is bad and is leaking motor oil and hydraulic fluid. i already have had hydraulic fluid leakage when i first bought this bike a year ago. 2004 KTM 525 EXC.

Javier is picking it up and fixing the issue.

The outter "O" ring would let oil get by and leak out but that would not be an indicator that the inner "O" ring on the slave piston is leaking clutch fluid. Of couse it does not mean it isn't leaking too if you are having clutch issues.

Great picture. Snow fence or slide fence?

Makes me want to be out riding. I am currently lying here after ACL reconstruction surgery on Thursday. Just looking forward to taking some great pictures while riding next season. At least I get to look forward to finishing the build on the 613 when I am back on my feet.

that's what i'm thinking. Javier and Dave at TrailTricks JUST did all that work. so i'm not happy about this BUT i am happy that they were prompt on picking up my bike (i live over 1 hour from their shop).
i am hoping it is something easy like the two O rings and not something like a gasket or worse.

Dave did ask about the slave cylinder. and he stated that there is a small chance i might need to replace this one.

i love this bike. i just can't not have it.

Cool picture. Got any more pics of that bike? I was thinking of going with all black plastics like that too. Either that, or all white.

I have three tanks, here's the big tank:

I'll hunt around for another with the black tank...

So I just bought a clean 07 525 with low miles. It runs like a raped ape! Jetted, exhaust de-restricted. I am changing the gearing to 14/48, it still has the stock 15/45 gearing!

The bike is a money pit! New tires, sprockets, new chain, bigger tank, fan, stator, new mirrors, dampener mount (already have scotts)... to make matters worse, I went to adjust the compression damping on the rear shock, and the o-ring there failed and all the oil came out! So I now have to pull the rear shock and take it in for service. cha-ching.

I think the suspension has been done for someone a little heavier than me. The rear spring is a 8.5-11.0 progressive. The front springs feel pretty stiff, too. But then again I am used to a cadillac DRZ.

Oh yeah, the headlight is a candle, that will have to be worked out. And why did they run the lights on AC? Every time I slow down, the lights dim even more!

Even though it will take all my money, it is an amazing bike.
