I had the choice between a 540 and 570 and it was very hard to turn down the 570 but we thought it best considering the bikes use and k's it will do.

I cant wait till it gets here.

Jeez I thought my 570 and cam was decent. That 613 sounds just too much.............................................. ..................meaning it should be bloody fun. Enjoy the motor and let us know what you think.

Make sure you get enough cam for the motor.

Well that's just crazy. I just sold my MXC tank here, and I have one of the seats you're looking for. Will PM you.

It is an 07 cam, hope that is enough.

This bike will be geared pretty high for longer range riding and will be loaded down with gear. Hoping not to stress it too much and get decent life out of it.

When I am finished I will do a build report and post a link. I have all of the parts now sans the modified suspension. That will get done once I have the final weight front, rear and overall (laden and unladen)

Even when finished it will be spring before I am cleared to ride again. Can't wait to ride with two good knees!

I love with this bike that i'll always have power on tap... in single track on sunday i was barely going along above idle, some may not find that fun but i enjoy torquing along rather than being WOT all the time (like i was on a WR250R)

and wheelies on demand is a farkin hoot. after giving it abit on an open hard pack dirt road, it feels like it has as much power up to 100kmh as my old KTM 950 Adventure.

The RFS motor is one of the best i've had the pleasure to twist the throttle on, and ive owned alot of dirt bikes. The XR650R was my favourite but this might have nudged it off the pedestal, chugging up rocky steep trails without a hint of stalling, i was gobsmacked what i was climbing up considering i havent done these difficult trails for years.

It has much less vibration than an LC4, it isn't quite as unstable at speed as it was made out to be (except when you're tipping 110KMH+)

Looking forward to riding it more.

Any experts out there who might know if the 530 1st & 2nd gear sets will fit in a 525?

The 530 are slightly wider ratio. Would rather have them in 5th & 6th but you take what you get.

Check the link above for the link to DJH's website, or ask him over on KTMtalk. If anyone has the right answer, he would.

What tire is that? Looks gnarly.

Also, what do you use that motorized wheel stand for?

It was built to be a tire lathe to profile the tires, but it turned out just as well to use a wood planer held against the spinning tire. If we were doing many tires, it would have an adjustable tool holder to be able to do various profiles, depending on if you are racing ovals or endurance racing. We are not racing, so we are keeping it simple.

The tire is a Shinko 520 "Holeshot', and from what I understand, used to be the Yokohama Super Digger. It is a popular ice racing tire for the 18" rears, and the Pirelli MT44 is the go-to for the 19". Google Marcel Fournier. He is also the maker of the screws.

I have a rediculous amount of posts in the XR650R thread but only 38 posts here.

This thread needs more pictures anyway

I just updated my packing list thread and used some pictures I never posted of the KTM. It was a nice little trip that was very different to what I usually ride.

This was the first time I used the giantloop on the KTM. It worked well until I lowsided in third gear and ripped the lower right grommet out...and cracked the subframe

Im still undecided on luggage for dirt bikes. Im to the point where I want a bike that is just for dualsport/travel. That way I can set it up and perfect it. Then my spring rate won't be all screwed up, I could try different luggage setups until I found what I like, and the propper gearing set...I think I need a 640 adventure or another RFS
