Beautiful pictures.

I was checking out a possible ride from Fort Simpsont to Wrigley, but this area looks stunning. I assume this road ends at Tungsten?

Other than winter, what month has the least bugs?

Yea the road ends at Tungsten, and there is no gas in the town since its only a private town for the mine. The mine is back operating last i heard, so the case MAY be different. But yea the road really gets amazing the last 150KM to the townsite. Best being the last 30km's through the pass. Tungsten townsite is RIGHT on the border of Nahanni national park.

I talked to my cousin who operates a hunting outfit in the south east part of Yukon and this is what he said:

End of may won't have much for bugs and can be pretty warm by then also, then about mid aug it's not bad. Depends on where he goes also. In the tundra the black flies are terrible when its warm til mid aug.

If you know the north too late August and September is AMAZING for colour, the Tundra turns amazing reds and yellows.

Thanks,

I've done all the main roads and towns in Yukon, NWT and AK. Usually in winter.

That is just enough information. I see the makings of a stellar journey.

North out of Banff...Peace River to Fort Simpson...back to Alcan...Ross River loop with a side to Tungsten...return via Cassiar. Some new roads and review a few favorites.

Probably 2 weeks in a hurry and 3 weeks more likely. Leave late Aug to Sept1. Hit Simpson about Sept 7-10 and work my way back to warmer latitudes.

I've camped on Muncho Lake in mid Sept and no bugs. Can you guarantee no bugs in late Aug?
