and a ride report?

On the Kjolur, Iceland

Is there a RR to go with this pic somewhere? I haven't been to Iceland since 1973. Beautiful back then. Spent a week exploring the country.

a bit offtopic...but:

I believe there are a few theories about the name iceland.
Well, if one sail to iceland from the south.. the Vatnajøkull and the other glaciers covers quite a bit of Iceland ..

And really, Greenland should be the one called Iceland ... maybe a confusion there ?

But.. some believe that Iceland was given it's name to scare away people.
The first settlers were farmers fleeing Norway, since it was the rough and anarchist viking age over here.. They were probably just looking for peace and safety. They had to bring animals into iceland, since there were only fish and birds present... and maybe a moskito or two..
The tough guys stayed here in norway..and most perished from plague etc later..
And the fish trade brought Spanish and Portugese ships here...which may explain why I have curly and dark blonde hair...

And the people in the Faroe Islands claim that they ended up there because they were too seasick to continue the trip further on to Iceland or Vinland.
Really, we Norwegians should be entitled to claim back Iceland, Faroer, Greenland, parts of sweden etc etc.. and even Vinland (americas) :):)

Wrote a report from my own Iceland trip this summer here:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...hlight=iceland

May be going back this winter and then july 2009( on a motorcycle again) to learn and experience more of Iceland..

This could also easily be in the "Best Days" section; another TLH shot from a June run

The road from Quinghai to Lhasa. We are up close to 5000 metres around here.
Taken from the train which was really interesting. But a bike trip through this area would be stunning

I may have been in a car, but this is definitely on my list to ride. This is I 60 in New Mexico, near the Very Large Array (VLA) radiotelescope.

Wow, you rode the world's highest passenger train. I'm envious.

Is it true that the cars are pressurized?

Did you get chance to travel south form Lhasa?
