Enjoy!

great old vids

Great Video. I would've been somewhere about there at the ripe age of about 8, just prior to leaving the old dart. The poms certainly had it made manufacturing wise, for a moment longer. I think it was the 350 Honda Dream started the change here in Oz, in about 1968. Then the Kwaka 500 triple. BSA Rocket and Triumph Bonneville but that was about it!

Hi all, no luck on freeing the engine. Anyone try this?

I may, but it may come down to this and just break the pistons, of which I don't really want to do. The pistons are easier to replace than the cylinders.

Since I'm not the patient type, I decided to try to use a little more persuasion on the stuck pistons. I've had a lot of suggestions from my club, from Cola to Kroil. I'm going after it with what I have, brute force. Actually the air hammer, a HF special on sale $14.99 with bits! I have my own bit that I used to use for U-joints.

I cut an old shovel handle that had broken at the blade into wooden spacers to try to save the pistons.

Took a bit, but it started to move the right cylinder. Enough to get a gap, then applied the hammer to the left cylinder.

So now that I have some movement, about 1/4", at least the crank does rotate. I placed pieces of a paint stick in the gap and tried to get more movement, but it seems that's all it's going to move today. Another dousing of PB Blaster and I'll let it sit a bit and try another day. I've already changed the oil and filter on the Ulysses and the serpentine belt on the Chevy. Enough for today.
