No shit, those fuckers are deadly pre-coffee. And I have yet to get it off of "1."

Now, after six months of using the old Gillette, I won't go back. It's so much nicer and my face seems so much cleaner. I shaved at the cabin with a Mach 3 this weekend, and it just felt incomplete. I've just been using the safety razor blades from Walgreens, and even as cheap as they are, it's a much better shave.

I told my wife, and she said "are you going to shave that awful chin goatee now?"

Same here both Merkur and Feather for me. I'm happy with the Dorco's, they are cheap and the bathroom doesn't look like a scene from Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

I've basically given up on shaving. Between my eyebrows migrating downwards and my beard migrating farther and farther up my face, I was in danger of having to shave my corneas. So once a month or so I attack my face with an elderly beard trimmer.

If I live to be 60 or 70 I am going to have full on wizard face. I see it coming.

The Merkur 23C has a long handle version and it's the same shaving head as the travel. (I have both.)

It's the aftermarket "XL" version. Shaved with it this morning. The added weight of the machined adjustment knob really feels good.

It's replacing my Futur as my main razor.

That's exactly why I sold my Futur. It was cool at first, but then it became a stupid PITA. No need for it to be so honking huge other than bragging rights.

I'm going to have to get one of those! I like the heft of the Futur, but not the enormous head that makes it hard to get around my Sicilian nose and the area between my chin and lower lip. My Futur also had very uneven blade gaps on each side, but I was able to completely disassemble it, clean everything really good, and when I put it back together it was much better. I'm not sure what you'd do with a Futur cranked to "6" (maybe skin a rabbit?) because my attachments aren't big enough to get me to venture past "3". Something with the heft of a Futur and the forgiveness and maneurverability of the Progress would be a killer razor.

Because of this thread, I bought a DE razor and have been using it for over six months now. I only own one razor so far, a Merkur 38C. It is advertised as being heavier than the HD, and the weight with very little pressure makes a clean pass. I also like the style of it and the length of the handle works well.
It's time to buy new blades, so I will probably buy the 100 pk. of the Russian Astras. Seems like a lot of blades.

Here is a pic of the 38C:
