+1 with Canuman

You may want to try Horizon Unlimited if you are looking to form a group ride. Also you might have better chance if you plan your trip around Dust 2 Dawson motorcycle event as they tend to attract riders every year. Dust2Dawson thread

Just ping a moderator and they'll get the thread moved over. Good luck! You might also post a link in the Canadian forum and the other regional forums.

Alaska Trip

It might help if you where to give a few more details such as a starting point, lenght of trip, number of riders and a camping or credit card trip, miles per day etc.
Is this a trip mainly to Alaska or do you plan to include trips in the Yukon or just a pass though?

You might want to check out this thread

Unfortunately I do not have any plans yet about any of the above. Starting point for me will be Las Vegas, however we could meet with various riders at different places depends from where each of them are coming from. Number of riders I would think the ideal would be between 4 and 10 but again, if would be more I don't think I would mind. I am going to have about 25 days available for my whole trip, so if we can squeeze Yukon in the trip, would be very nice. Thank you for the thread.

Just starting to get my ducks in a row for this trip.
Vacation should not be to much of an issue for me but I wish I had
a better idea of the time required.
I have done a couple med. mileage trips b4 but this will be my 1st lllong
trip.
My starting point will be I-5 Vallejo Ca. or I could do hiway 101 on a KLR,
I will likely be solo but would like to join up with a group if possible.
Loaded question, how much time should I ask for, more is better but time off
actually costs me.
Got any quick links to 2013 D2D trip reports?

The Icefield Parkway has some great scenery!

I went back in 2009, and am planning a trip in 2015 with a friend of mine. Just a thought, but if you have limited time you might want to consider a smaller group. Not that there is anything wrong with large groups, but I've found that you need a LOT of extra time for everything if you have a large group. Simple things like where to eat or stay can turn out to be an issue if you don't have reservations, etc. It's also good to know the people you are traveling with if possible via phone calls, etc. I was lucky enough to meet a wonderful couple from California and met them in Montana for the trip north. We camped everyday and had a blast!

I also am headed up that way in June 2014, and based on so many recommendations like yours to do the Icefield Parkway, I've changed my own route to experience it.

Been there 3 times and can't wait to go back

I've made 3 trips from the plains states to Alaska, Yukon, NW Territories. Must rides are Dempster Highway, Top of the World highway, Haul Road ( at least to the pass ). start in early June and take a rain suit; plan on riding 4-6 days in the rain. the D2D is June 23-24-25 in Dawson City and if you can stay that late it's well worth attending. Don't make a rigid schedule and let the weather choose direction sometimes.

if you are planning on this being a camping trip I'm in.

another rider asking why you think putting a big group together for this ride is in any way desirable. you're about to turn what is a very enjoyable ride into one big charlie foxtrot. you would find that out not later than noon on day 1.

Amen to this. The more people that go, the more disagreements that are going to happen. Also, it takes a larger group longer to get fuel, use the bathroom, eat at restaurants, etc. Better make sure to add some days to your itinerary and reduce the miles accomplished every day.

Not saying you shouldn't do this, but be warned like jdrocks mentioned...expect issues. Personally, I prefer the company of one or two people instead of a large group...and those one or two have my kind of personality so we can co-exist for a longer period of time. Pick your co-riders wisely, or be prepared to deal with soap-opera-like situations.

I think some of you probably scared him off.. but it is very true that riding with 2-3 that co-exist with you works better than to gather a group ride.
