This is sooooo timely ...

Let me collect my thought and I will post up two offerings.

As an aside ...

Put at the top of post number on the information in the order you want w/o the attached comments, so we can cut-in-paste into our posts for formatting. It doesn't hurt for us to be a bit organized in the way we post the data so it will be easy to get into the front of the thread.

1. State
2. City
3. Hotel Name
4. Rating
5. Comments on location
6. Room type and rate
7. Secure Parking?/Where
8. Hot water
9. AC
10. Service/Languages spoken
11. Overall impression

Another thought would be link the post url to the name ... easier to go locate specific posts when this grows to the level it hopefully will.

Not trying to be a PITA, only make this thread as valuable as possible

1. Country/State: Mexico/Chihuahua
2. City: Creel
3. Hotel Name: Margarita's
4. Rating: 4 stars
5. Comments on location: Just east of the main tourist area on a quiet sidestreet.
6. Room type and rate: Double/Double - 500 Pesos per night for the room for two people, which included breakfast and supper.
7. Secure Parking/Where: Sorta since the remodel. We locked our bikes together in front of the lobby on the street. The lobby is manned 24 hours a day.
8. Hot water: Yes, hot and the shower was comfortably large.
9. AC: I don't remember seeing a unit, but we were there in the winter and the rooms are heated. I have heard that Creel is comfortable even in the summer w/o AC.
10. Service/Languages spoken: The service was excellent. The majority of the people there only speak Spanish, but Cezar speaks English very well.
11. Overall impression: This is a very nice place to stay and is a very good value.
12. Website: http://hotelesmargaritas.tripod.com/
13. Comments: Cezar took time out of his routine to to take Skinny and I to Presidio with broken bikes and broken bodies. He was invaluable to others in our party regarding spots to visit. He rides and therefore understands what we want to see.
14. Date of Visit: January 2007
15. URL for your trip report: MEXadventure 2007

Great suggestions. Take a look at the first page and see if I've done what you suggest. Sometimes my feeble brain doesn't work too well but I think I've incorporated your suggestions. Also, I put the "Date of Visit" and the URL in my spreadsheet.

Also, thanks for the great info on Margarita's in Creel.

They also have parking available in the drive/yard at a house about 2 blocks away, behind a tall locked gate.

Good point, that I forgot to mention. That is where we intend to store our trucks the next trip down to Creel.

It looks great and thank you for taking this to task. I predict it is going to be some work.

Hotel Mary

1. State: Chihuahua
2. City: Batopilas
3. Hotel Name: Hotel Mary
4. Rating: 2 stars
5. Comments on Location: Just across from the Catholic Church and near the central plaza
6. Rate: 150 Pesos for one person or 200 Pesos for two people per double/double
7. Secure Parking: Yes, in the courtyard - see photos below
8. Hot water: Yes, but we had to ask that it be turned on
9. AC/Heat: Neither, but plenty of blankets. This likely would not be a good place to stay in warm weather as all windows open into the courtyard.
10. Service/Language Spoken: Somewhat laid back and only Spanish is spoken.
11. Overall impression: Good, inexpensive and close ot everything.
12. Date of Visit: January 2007
13. Website of Hotel: None known
14. URL for your trip report: MEXadventure 2007

Taken from in front of the Catholic Church

Parking ... empty

Parking ... full

Our room

AC/Heat...also needs 'Fan(s)' added.

Also...other users should be able to make comments to a posting. Updates, changes, etc.

For example: I've been jerked around my last 2 visits to Hotel Mary.
Also has parking behind a locked fence. Across the alley from the largest bar in Batopilas, starts with a 'Z'. :)
Has on-premise restaurant.

Good point ... how about just adding a url link to any further comments made about a particular hotel?

An example ...

Chihuahua ----------- Batopilas ---------------- Hotel Batopilas ------------------------------------------ 2.5 ---------- 6 - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...52&postcount=6
Chihuahua ----------- Batopilas ---------------- Hotel Mary ----------------------------------------------- 2.0 --------- 25 - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...52&postcount=25
----------------------------------------------------------- Comments by Lone Rider -------------------------------------- 26 - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...52&postcount=26
................................. Creel -------------------- Margarita's ----------------------------------------------- 4 ---------- 20 - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...5&postcount=20

Also, I would love to hear how your visit went. There clearly wasn't any snap in the fellow manning the place, but all-in-all it was OK. The lady who ran Monse Guest House (if I remember the name correctly) on the plaza, spoke some English, which was helpful in getting back to Creel with the bikes.

The El Zaguán ?

The bar is on the left, Restaurant Cinco Patio is on the left and the blue on the right side is the corner of Hotel Mary.

I'm trying to add other's comments to the spreadsheet as they come in. I really don't think it would be a good idea for everyone to have write privileges to the spreadsheet, but I'm open to comments and suggestions from everyone on this.

This is my first attempt at something like this and it is definitely a work in progress and I'm fine tuning it based on suggestions like yours.
