This is a very old machine... built over a hundred years ago. Refreshed, recently, like many of the bikes here.

It will be about the bikes when I fly mine out with it

Nice! I need to make some of those for Jenna. Could you get me some shots that show the bends? It looks like the front edge is rounded in but I can't tell. It seems like it'd be a good idea to do that so it'd bounce over the dirt better when you wreck. What did you have to do to make the nut work?

HOwdy Brad!

I could get some shots. The front endge is curved a bit. Its got washers welded to the bolt holes for re-inforcement. They are a simple elegant design thats not exactly a peice of cake to replicate, bend-wise.

The valve cover crown nut comes off, gets replaced by a double- internally threaded nut about an inch long or so. One side gets screwed on to the bolt coming out of the head and a hex bolt goes into the other side, holding the bash plate on.

Primamry function is to protect the valve covers, although it will work well for protecting the lower fins, and any dual plugging going on.

I figure I should write "If you can read this, flip me over" jeep style on them

Ha! I cant seem to find the pic where the front end is bottoming, just before this shot. I thought i had it somewhere. I do have the one just prior to that one, where I'm hangin on for dear life.

The sounds of that lap haunt my dreams! Rarely do you get to see that many sparks fly from under a bike on a MX track. A true spectacle!
