Nope, they really were sweet bikes. I had two '77 RS's and loved the daylights outa them. Had an '83, too. Of course I '77'd the motor. And then some.

I consider my Buell S2 to be the RS BMW could have made if they hadn't given up on the 247 motor when they did. That may only make sense in my mind.

its been on my mind for a few days now.

seriously, i had a dream of assembling one last night.

I'll move on once they're working, I swear. I've got a few more photos that are busting to get out..

Lornce- I think you have an interesting profile. "improvisation specialist" is a very cool job. Similar to mine, in a conceptual way. And your dream ride-- well-- we certainly have that in common.

800 miles into a 6000 mile trip, the right hand throttle spring broke. I bought a cheap pair of vice grips from a gas station and used the spring from that, but had to add some wire from a busted bungee cord hook because the spring wasnt long enough.
That fix lasted almost 10,000 miles That photo is of that fix.

That's where they go?!?!?

I was wondering where those new ez-pull springs went. Maybe i just need to turn the old girl over on her back to do that job..... nahhh, nevermind! Probably not a good idea...

Ok. You don't look any older than I do (and I look ten years younger than I am.) How in the hell do you find time for a 6000 mile trip?

Got no kids or school is my guess. I'm jealous.

No kids then.. that was a cross country and back about 4 summers ago. Finally worked up to 3 weeks paid vacation. Add that to weekends, and I had almost 28 free days. Budgeted out to $400 a week to spend after paying bills at home. Buddy of mine went with me. Two guys, two bikes, zero plan, except for to ride as far as we cared to every day without touching interstates, and be back in NY at the end. We were not living large. Lots of $5 a night for tentspace state and natioal campgrounds. The "green spots" on the map.
Are Kbikes old school yet?

My girlfriend flew out to Denver in the middle of it. She rented a GS1150 and joined us for part of the trip. Shes totally a trooper.

Stage, I like your style - and your antlers. Good on you.

Hoping to get away in June for a trip through Labrador and Newfoundland. Camping as much as possible to keep it interesting and cheap. Never seen that part of Canada before, but all indications are it's rugged and beautiful.

This is the ferry accross the St. Laurent from Bae Comeau to Matane on the Gaspe` Penninsula in fall of '05.
