Perth to Cervantes sand weekend 2nd & 3rd April

Thanks to Dan the tour guide, Greg, Graeme, Kev, Nick, and Andrew.
It was good to meet some more riders and and enjoy some excellent tracks. And some very soft sand.
It was a shame that one certain make and model of bike continued to uphold it's reputation and couldn't complete the trip but I'm pretty sure the rest of us had a great weekend. I certainly did.
I hope the back is not too bad Kev.

Rocket 3? About as much grunt as any bike could have, and a lowish seat height that even T might be able to swing a leg over?

Yes Jay, this was unit 1.0. We didn't even get to stage 4.0

I've never liked the look of the Rocket - T tried 1 before she got the cruiser (now long sold off), but she wasn't a fan. Never had a go on 1 myself tho'.

I thought you were going to say 'Tiger' when I started reading 'British anscestry' but you didn't mention that bike.

BTW Wilmo, got down to your thurs night stomping ground a few weeks back...some nice hill climbs as you always said. It was a real struggle in the sand using hard terrain tires...I was digging holes most of the time.

I didn't think a side mounted number plate would fit the Tiger, but if that's what you are getting its very nice, listened to the youtube videos, that triple sounds unreal....and by all accounts I'd say the quality control is better than that of the F800, it'd be my pick too over the BMW.

How much fun is it riding up there?!!! And beautiful scenery as well! Much better than the hills because it doesn't hurt when you fall off. To learn to ride sand you just have to have a go, it doesn't take long. Its all about attitude! I remember my first ride at Gnangara with GuyMcfly and falling off within 50m. Thankfully I've improved a lot since then. Tyre pressures make a big difference too - something you learn through experience. The trick is also not to exhaust yourself trying to get up a hill that you are stuck on, just turn the bike around and ride down it and have another run. A steering damper also helps heaps on a big bike to keep it in a straight line, and keeping your weight back and clamping the bike between your knees to aid stability. And try not to use the front brake....
