I've been planning a garage/workshop for a few months and finally got it built this week. It's a 30x40 with 9' inside clearance. Doors will be 9x8 and 16x8 overhead and a 3' walk in. The ground is in a flood area so the floor will be 24" above grade.
Here are some pics of the progress. Sod removed from site ![]() Day 1 ![]() Day 2 ![]() Day 3 ![]() The electric service is being trenched in today. My concrete man is out of town for a couple of weeks so the floor will have to wait. I've been waiting for a while for this building so a couple more weeks won't matter. |

I have the same problem. I am looking at putting in supports so that the door goes above the supports which will have lights mounted to them. They will work with the door open or closed.

When I first thought of doing this I was bothered that the doors on either end of the room were not in alignment as you can see from the last pic. Then I figured I'ld just put in some curves. A bit of figureing on the angles to cut. Turned out to be 11 1/2 degrees. Probably would look better with actual curved cuts, but I wasn't about to start trying to cut curves with a jigsaw or knife. Would be very tough to get the mating piece to fit tight I think.....Anyway, double yellow in the turns. No passing

On either side will be blue and white checked pattern. I took a blue tile to Home Depot and had them match the color. Thats whats on the walls. Matches pretty good. In the last pic you can see the blue and white tiles. Thats todays project.
